Well, you see, Shane stuck AJ in this spot against a guy who did nothing to deserve this title shot, so it's all Shane's fault (and DB's too, but he can't wrestle).
I think it's pretty much official that those two are never going to put on an actual organic match together. It's just going to be a disjointed set of whatever spots they want to do. Thankfully they do some good ones.
Fantastic match, what a show. Hopefully they give AJ someone better than Shane to work with at WM. I think this makes Taker a lot more likely to win the rumble.
Well, I'm sure it was **** for whatever story these guys have, and just watching two guys kick out of finishers usually blows, but it was entertaining for what it was.
As someone who doesn't really watch anymore, I kind of expected Cena to win since I didn't think a casual wrestling fan would be as attracted to a WM main event featuring AJ Styles instead of Cena. Expecting a "big name" to win the Rumble for the same reason.
The only good thing about John Cena matches is the allure that they might finally maybe let someone go over clean. If you remove that aspect, that match just becomes a choose your adventure story, moving from one finisher/kickout/reversal to the next, with false finish after false finish until a real finish.
i liked omega okada a lot. ive started watching more njpw since then (suzuki is sweet!). nowhere did i hate on it. i said the wall of people lolling/being mad at finisher kickouts was silly when its coming from the same people that praised the tokyo dome show. its two awesome people throwing haymakers at each other and leaving it all out there. its a pretty standard huge match booking.
man
i think i feel more disappointed than when rock walked in, declared he was getting a title shot at the rumble, put punk down the entire time, then casually beat him no big deal despite shield interference.

you mentioned finishers so I was just pointing out how opposite NJPW is with protecting finishers (at least Okada and Omega). Though I don't disagree about the haymakers thing, they're just not finishers in NJPW
