James Harris, who played Kamala, died sunday.

it's weird that Kamala Harris was nominated as VP today.. what are the odds of that? 2 days after the wrestler James Kamala The UG died

FYI, i'm a huge Kamala Harris fan......... i don't think pointing out the coincidence is racist. but who knows in this day and age

We had Kamala on for our COVID-CON event we did, a virtual wrestling convention. Kenny Casanova (author who wrote Kamala's book) and I were going to fly down to Tennessee to help Kamala do a virtual autograph signing to help him raise money. Saddened by the news.

where else did Harris work? i vaguely think he worked von erich dallas territory. i think elsewhere too. and i do think his work elsewhere is well regarded.

i personally only know him as Kamala the UG....... FWIW, i preferred crazy WWE stereotype characters and straight marketing "star crushes jobber" weekly TV show way over today's product.. i just find today's product so bland and lifeless. too much effort at being coy........ but i'm very old and cranky... i liked the crusher and the sheik.

i garbled my original comment.

kamala UG = james harris......... = "kamala harris"... and he died 2 days before her well deserved nomination as VP.

looking at wiki........... he was #144 of top 500 of the PWI years (-----> 2003).. that's pretty impressive......... 4-time champion in memphis. lawler was 28-time champion there (and maybe another iteration of title)......... harris was 1-time champion of various regional titles....... anyway, pretty great career.. #144 of 500 is impressive.

His original gimmick was created by Jerry Lawler in Memphis. He was called Kimala, and Lawler did his face paint. After Kamala left, he changed his name and the paint scheme because he wanted to feel as though he had some type of hand in creating his character. I highly recommend the biography, all of the money still goes to his family.
