idk if you saw it but Graves told Cole that if Heenan were there Heenan would've said that Cole's parents ran away from home.

The Jannetty plate-glass window line is pretty hard to top.

I believe I made a case for Heenan as the most talented individual in pro wrestling history in one of the drafts I was in. That's arguable (of course) but he's definitely on the short list. The guy took better bumps in the ring than 98 percent of performers, and that was his LEAST talented skill set.

Even before being thrown through the window is great:
"They need each other. One without the other doesn't work."
*Shawn kicks Marty*
"Shawn's never needed Marty. He's been holding him back."

Missed it. Love Graves. He referenced someone getting dropped on their external occipital protuberance about a month ago during a PPV.

Maybe his last great announcing quote: “By the time The Iron Sheik gets to the ring, it will be Wrestlemania 37!”

My second favorite is when he claims Janetty tried to escape through the plate glass window
Yeah that skirt/kilt quote was awesome.. Laughing just thinking about it.

"Don't start that 'fair to Flair' crap with me!"

edit: this is probably great seeing as how Dave always does elite write-ups of people who have passed away.

If you want to search later the title is "The life and death of Bobby Heenan" for when this inevitably gets taken down.

It's amazing to me the outpouring of praise and good things said about Bobby since his passing and I haven't read one bad thing about him from any of the idiot posters on other sites.

When Hogan, Vince, Flair all pass, people will talk all kinds of **** about them. There will be a bunch of arguments that they weren't the best at their eras, peek, what they did, and whether or not they were good people. With Bobby nobody questions that he was the absolute best at what he did and that he was a genuinely respectable individual.

It's no shock though. Knowing that he refused to talk bad about Vince and the WWF when hired at WCW and knowing that he (unlike Ventura, Hogan, Mene Gene, and everyone else) gave Verne and the AWA six weeks notice when he signed with Vince Jr. should tell me all I need to know.

You could see the admiration he had from everyone in attendance at the Hall of Fame. I'm just glad that he got to give a speech while his voice could still hold up and while he still had the signature wit. That's certainly been one of my favorite HOF speeches to this date.

I love how real the Monsoon/Heenan kinship was. His shoutout to Gorilla at the end always gets me: http://dai.ly/x1ssb8t?start=1419

I disagree about Flair. When he was hospitalized a few weeks ago and people thought he was on the verge of dying, you only saw positive comments about him. He's still beloved by everyone.

You're probably right about Vince and Hogan. People will hold off the negativity for a couple of days, but they will start talking negatively soon enough.

Since it's bumped I'll post again:

I watched that HoF induction and that was funny af. I did wonder if he hadn't made himself cry at the end if he would've kept going. It felt like that's why he stopped. He was extremely quick and I loved the line where his new son-in-law doesn't stand up and he goes "he's standing, she just married a midget".

When I wrote that about Hogan, Vince, and Flair it depressed me that that feels like the end of the 80's era GOATs right there. Maybe Steamboat? I'm not sure how to slot Funk. I think he was more of a 70's guy even though he had great stuff in the 80's.

Even with Hogan I wouldn't expect that a major health scare would have everyone reacting with "hell yeah, let the worms chow down." Haters probably tend to just shut up in that spot.

Still, I agree that Flair is very likely more beloved than the other two. He had some petty feuds himself in the past (and probably won some sort of crazy scavenger hunt by being one of the only ones who could get noted gentleman Mick Foley to hate on him), but it seems like those are largely buried.

Your theory about him going home because he got choked up is plausible, but he exited nearly immediately, and it would have been a very quick reaction. My guess - and sort of my hope, actually - is that he wanted to give Gorilla the last shoutout to finish his speech.

Im watching Uncensored 1998 with Bobby, Tony and Tenay commentating. Bobby is losing his voice before the show is starting and apologising. He is saying some really insightful remarks, although you can tell he is struggling. I cant help but wonder if this was the first sign of his throat cancer issue

Tony talks about it somewhere between the 5 and 20 minute mark of this video:

He was asked if he noticed him having trouble in 1999. Tony says he was unaware of any cancer issues with Bobby until 2001.

Everyone thought Warrior was a prick. I'm sure his making amends at the HOF probably helped some, but if people weren't talking **** when he died, everyone's probably safe.

I assume the model for catching heat would be like what happened with Steve Jobs's image after he died. Everyone gets something of a post-death honeymoon, but then people get increasingly bold about speaking up.

I think when Hogan goes people will whine about him being racist and probably being overrated. When Vince dies, people will rejoice because to them, the product may get better because he's dead.
