Didn't look at the comments below, but yep, it is Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania 19.

Also, top-notch hatred in the OP, especially this bit. "full-time wrestlers subject to replacement by MUSICAL PERFORMER MACHINE GUN KELLY." This will be my only post in this thread though, as I refuse to watch this show and find no reason to watch it after the very good NXT Takeover show today.

Who is pumped up for this pile of dinosaur ****?!

Does it matter? Because we're all watching anyway!

I will not be watching.

My default position will be watching, but if something comes up, I won't hesitate to skip it.

I'm definitely looking forward to it. A fair bit of that is morbid curiosity, but still.

Without this forum, there's 0% chance I watch this. Very possible I would have given up wrestling entirely.

I'll be watching because I'm paid to, but if I wasn't I'd be streaming from terrible wifi in Spain. I'll be tweeting from @willhillbet and I'll be hopefully owning those idiots from paddypower who didn't know who AJ Styles was when they live tweeted the Royal Rumble.

Wait, what? Are you serious? How can you even have an elementary understanding of 2016 wrestling and not know who AJ Styles is?

They seem like they were just fans during the attitude era. Not sure really, maybe some people never look past what WWE puts on tv.

HOF crowd is always more dominantly smarkish than WM, as evidenced by the reaction to Cena last night. I'm guessing we see more of the 30% booing/25% cheering/45% apathetic mix tonight.

One of us is significantly off in our estimation of the booing percentage.

Should be fun to see who.

Oh yeah. Without the community aspect of wrestling I would never be watching. Whether it be MLW/LAW radio podcasts, forums, twitter, whatever.

I know the booking isn't great this year and it's hard to really root for anyone is a fair few of the matchs..... but it's Wrestlemania today and I'm still going to get excited.

The implications of h/roman and Shane/UT are being incredibly underrated ITT. Booked correctly these could really change the creative direction for at least the next few months in a hugely positive way. Also im guessing cena makes the save for Shane, shane wins and it sets up cena/UT in UT's goodbye WM

There's no doubt potential for some great moments and interesting booking on the night but I'm not getting excited about any future booking. The same people that wrote the terrible build will still be writing after it's done.

Well, even if we assume the writers aren't completely terrible (and there's no reason to assume they aren't terrible), there's still the problem of the 70 year old man that makes all the final decisions.

Also, when Shane returned they teased him having some sort of lock box with evidence of something in it. They just dropped that completely, right?

No I don't think they dropped it, I just think the mention of a lock box was more of a throwaway line and there really isn't a lockbox.

If they are deadset on sticking with a heel authority group, I outlined a way to get that done, and actually make a little sense of the Shane/Taker match, earlier in this thread.

Even if we only look in storyline, the Authority already lost power once as a result of a PPV match stip and they were back in power a few weeks after. Most of the PPVs are reasonably entertaining taken on their own but the long term storytelling has been lacking for a long time, and Shane isn't changing that.

yeah the lockbox thing just doesn't make sense because it allows shane to have leverage over vince/the company regardless of the outcome of the match.

i suspect they either (A) intentionally dropped the lockbox concept because they realized the above or (B) have shane lose but have him come out on raw and use the lockbox as a negotiating tool again

Haven't we been through all of this before? (Insert name here) takes over (Raw/Smackdown) and 'runs' it for a period of time before it goes back to how it always has been?

I kind of lump it in with someone being 'fired' or 'retiring.'

Why is Sasha such a favorite here? I feel like this is a good excuse for Charlotte to pin Becky and continue Sasha justifiably chasing her for the belt. Then again, they probably need at least one title change at Mania people will pop for. There's no legit heels for Sasha to fight once she goes over Charlotte anyway

Because Sasha is incredible and the most over woman in a long time. The whole reason why she wasn't immediately given the belt was because they were building to her WM coronation.
