My love of Randy Savage causes me to insist upon 4 being above some of the other very worst Manias, even though objectively that show was truly brutal.

In a year's time I really have to think that I'd rather sit through WM 4 than this show, even if nostalgia heavily informs that decision.

WM9 still prob worst ever

not sure it's fair to put this up against WM2 or WM4 considering they are spending like 100billion more on the show these days. all things equal this has to be bottom 3. including the preshow there was 2 entertaining matches out of 12 and thats generous.

I have the VHS and mine doesn't include the countdown. If I remember right, mine included a Paul Bearer promo.

The match quality doesn't give the whole picture on this one either, since Rock/Wyatt might as well have been the revival of Piper's Pit with Brother Love and Morton Downey Jr.

I guest hosted a review of Mania 4 for Place to Be a couple of years back and it is true that card mostly brutal.

Rude vs. Jake is unbelievably bad.

That is in contention. Although my personal man-love for Ted Dibiase makes it difficult for me to put it below what I saw tonight.

Will also say that Mania 5 was edited on the vhs and the full unedited version is pretty abdominal. And that's a show I had great fondness for as a kid.

Run DMC segment is atrocious also.

Did Reigns get booed after he won?

The booking of IV was a lot better than the booking of this show. It seemed like a lot of matches tonight they chose to just try and surprise people as opposed to having a finish that actually was entertaining, made sense, and helped the wrestlers. And the matches that needed a swerve or a wrinkle most got by the numbers booking.

We think they cut the crowd mic and piped in cheers.

The problem with this raw was that it was basically all AIDS or cheap pops.

IC ladder match spots were cheap pops then you had the aids with the winner. AJ vs Y2J was aids. New Day vs League of Nations was aids then they had the cheap pop but it was aids. Bork was decent but was like 10 minutes.

Womens match was good. Didnt agree with ending but it made some sense.

Shane vs Taker was aids with a big spot that was essentially a cheap pop. Andre Battle Royal sucked. Had the cheap pop with Shaq. Main event had no redeeming qualities.

Ive watched better Raw's. Easily worst Mania imo.

So what were the rumors for the huge swerve ?

I think after some time has passed, and you can look at it objectively, you will see at worst it falls somewhere around 5th worst Mania of all time.

er, looking at it even tho that event also had lawler/cole, it at least had a solid punk/orton and rhodes/mysterio match. is the ladder/women batter than that or not

Booking, match quality, angles, etc. have zero affect on sales. Vince Sr proved it. Vince Jr is also proving it.

I don't know where this ranks when looking back but its the least I've enjoyed one in the moment.

Yeah, I've harped on the awfulness of Jake vs Rude a ton, and I love both guys.

no run in on the shane taker match, can't believe they went at that straight up (including shane kicking out like no big deal after a last ride on the steps). We knew shane was gonna do that spot at the end since he's done it before but it was tough at times before that.

Roman HHH worst match of the night (skipped the preshow). Taker/Shane went wayyyyy too long, you're not supposed to showcase guys at WM that never wrestle.

Erick rowan vs The Rock was a WM match. At first was like oh they're actually pushing the wyatts again a bit, but nahhhhhhh. This might've worked if you didn't spend the last whatever months completely burying him.

Why the hell is cena saving the rock? They don't like each other.

Taker ended Shane's unbeaten streak at mania (a source said he was 2-0 if wrong then idgaf).

And those who are saying this was the worst ever have either never seen XI or just forget how bad that was from start to finish. The fact that this was at Cowboys Stadium and XI is at the Hartford Civic Center is enough to rate it higher

Totally disagree. Reigns cant be the #1 face. He gets boo'd everywhere. Turning him heel down the road will just make him going over cleanly @ mania worse.
