Kinda surprised that more people are not talking about this here. With the announcement that they will have weekly tv on TNT + the solid roster + the funds + how trash WWE has been, it seems like this is a huge deal for the wrestling world. Are you guys just super jaded with wrestling now, or not really into the potential new company?

I’m interested. I’ll watch when it’s on TNT. I just haven’t paid close attention yet.

I still watch WWE and actually more of it since Punk's run in 2011 despite the product being pretty bad atm. I'm very excited to see if AEW can put together an entertaining show. Their first (?) ppv's on the 25th and this is the poster + card:

Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho

AAA World Tag Title match:
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) (c) vs. The Lucha Bros (Pentagón Jr. and Rey Fénix)

Cody vs. Dustin Rhodes

"Hangman" Adam Page vs. Pac

Dr. Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose vs. Kylie Rae

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) vs Angélico and Jack Evans

SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Scorpio Sky) vs. Strong Hearts (Cima, T-Hawk, and El Lindaman)

Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki, and Emi Sakura vs. Hikaru Shida, Riho, and Ryo Mizunami

21-man battle royal for a future AEW World title shot:
Sonny Kiss vs. Brandon Cutler vs. Ace Romero vs. Glacier vs. Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Sunny Daze vs. MJF vs. Joey Janela vs. Dustin Thomas vs. Billy Gunn vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Michael Nakazawa vs. Jungle Boy vs. TBA

Preshow match:
Kip Sabian vs. Sammy Guevara

I've never seen Kylie Rae before but from the little reading I've done about AEW, I've seen her mentioned quite a bit as a tip top woman wrestler.

I'm pretty happy to be able to see Neville again as well. Chuckie T too. Glacier and Billy Gunn in the battle royal seems like a step backward.

Didn't realise the PPV was so close. I will be watching that and keep an eye on AEW when it properly starts. Expectations for the PPV are high bar the Jericho Omega match.

Something to consider, has the network ruined the possibility of PPVs being super profitable going forward? Im curious to see what kind of nunbers the third ppv pulls in. Not this one, it should do really solid numbers, but how long will pwople shell out 49.99 a month when they get the network for 10?

Is that THE Glacier, Glacier?

Wow, TNT is covering the production costs of the AEW show. That is HUGE.

They're going to need to run the show on Wednesday nights, because the Tuesday NBA games will pre-empt AEW a lot from November-March and possibly through the playoffs. If I was running AEW (lol), I would not want that Tuesday setup.

I am kind of lukewarm on most of the talent and suspect this won't be my cup of tea, but I would love to see WWE get, if not legit competition, at least an alternative that will try some different techniques with a larger audience. I'll definitely be checking it out.

I just don't see how this is going to translate to a weekly show. TYB/Omega/Cody are all big time talents (even though I despise Cody as a performer) but the drop off in talent after them is enormous

I don't know either, though I would point to when WWE re-initiated the brand split a few years ago, gave Smackdown very little of the available talent compared to Raw, and SD was the far superior show for a time despite the big talent disparity.

Who knows if AEW will have great creative, but great creative can go a long damn way.

Pac (Neville) and Page have talent and I think they will shine when given the platform. MJF will be a good heel, though he isn't my favorite cup of tea. The tag division, if nothing else, should produce really athletic matches. I think there's more to work with than you guys think.

Also, there will be at least 3-4 significant signings between now and when the TNT show starts. It's almost a foregone conclusion that Scurll is coming. (I don't know how much he really moves the needle, but he's another talented guy who will help fill out weekly TV for sure.)

One other thing: I firmly believe that at some point there will be a full-blown AEW/NJPW working relationship.

I just think this idea is like 5 years late. The WWE has pillaged the indus over that span and they kinda have nothing but the guys they didnt want over that span.

If there's one thing that the AE proved, it's that people will watch lackluster undercards if there's a great main event scene. AEW needs more than those 4 guys though. Maybe Ambrose comes over? As much as I don't like him, maybe he'll be a good main eventer there. Anyone know if Pentagon's staying or is this a AAA attraction?

Styles was the best, but that show was solid top-to-bottom. They were managing to make Eva Marie seem interesting.

I get this sentiment, but five years ago, Kenny Omega wasn't a thing. If Omega doesn't blow up, AEW doesn't exist right now.

I see AEW got through a grand total of 0 shows before creative differences led to a high profile match cancelation

Everyone's a top guy so every match ends in a draw? Timeshare titles?

I wonder what happened with that though, they did the match in Nottingham?

Im not surprised that Neville is the guy that refused to job. He thew a hissy fit and quit when he lost the CW title in WWE too. Great wrestler, enormous ego.

He's the Dragon's Gate champion though. He's also undefeated since returning so not wanting to job to Hangman Page in another promotion seems reasonable to me. If it was someone like Omega or Jericho then sure but Hangman?
