rock and cena's live music entrances already disqualify it from being the best anything. those will beat out the divas match for worst segment

Okay best since Wrestlemania X7.

Hopefully they do it kinda the same way HHH did his entrance last year, where they played "For Whom the Bell Tolls" then he came out to "Time to Play the Game".

I was just reading the wiki on WM11 and came across this:

Quote:
Pro Wrestling Illustrated columnist Dave Rosenbaum stated that WrestleMania (XI) "saved" the WWF in its feud with rival World Championship Wrestling. He argued that Taylor "looked like a pro" and contributed to an "incredible" match. He also observed that the tag team matches helped rejuvenate an area of wrestling that had been suffering in the WWF and that the match between Michaels and Diesel was a candidate for match of the year.
Am I in the Twilight Zone?

Was there ever footage leaked of the rehearsal for that intro where HHH Sin Cara'd a horse?

Hahaha, that's completely absurd. Michaels vs. Diesel was the only match that was even reasonably good, and it wasn't fantastic or anything.

Wrestlemania 11 wasn't that bad compared to how people rate it, especially considering the state of the company at the time. It certainly wasn't one of the better ones, but I wouldn't lump it together with WM9.

And this is coming from someone who has still never heard of Lawrence Taylor outside of that event/angle.

There wasn't any footage leaked but this was the quote about it from PWinsider:

- WWE originally planned for Triple H to ride a Clydesdale horse to the ring for his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVII. During a test run, the horse fell through the trap door on the WrestleMania stage, with Hunter riding it. The horse was spooked and went wild. Plans for the ring entrance were immediately scrapped.

Okay, looking for the good in each show...

WM IX: Michaels/Tatanka, Luger/Perfect, and Headshrinkers/Steiners were all decent, albeit none of them were great.
WM XI: Michaels/Diesel was better than any WM IX match, but honestly if I were to power-rank the collective matches of the two shows, WM IX would probably take up spots 2-4. Granted that nothing on WM XI was as bad as that Taker-Gonzalez atrocity from WM IX, though Taker vs. Bundy was horrible also.

Thing is, WM 13 was well on pace for being worse than any of them, and then Bret v. Austin went out and put on arguably the greatest match in WWF history. Seriously though, the rest of that show is absolutely BRUTAL.

was anyone aware that this will be maria menounos's second match? she guest hosted raw back in 2009 and ended up in a 6-diva match where she was in ring for over a minute in a 2.5 minute match. that's like an irondiva match.

WM9 loses a crap load of points for having a bad main event, and loses even more points for what happened afterwards. And that is before we even get to Taker/Gonzalez. I haven't watched it for a while but from memory I'd put Backlund/Bret as better than anything on WM9, and I don't remember WM11 having any startlingly bad matches.

EDIT - I guess Taker/Bundy was startlingly bad, actually. It's still streets ahead of Taker/Gonzalez though which is what it's up against in this discussion.

Hey guys, just got back from hospital, my right eye was diminishing (best way I can describe it) over the last few days, up until yesterday when it went totally blind.
Doc's did the whole MRI thing and it turns out it was inflamation that reached the back of the eye and some parts of the brain, the prognosis is 90/10 full recovery in my favor.
Basically I'll be watching WM with one good eye, and I'll try my best to contribute to the thread(s).

Backlund-Bret at 11 was really bad IMO. The "I Quit" stipulation is generally terrible, even with Bret-Austin being the standout exception to that rule.

Teejay, you are in Britain right? What is our start time, is it midnight or 23:00 as a wetsuit website claims its midnight but i worked it out the other day as 23.

Edit, damn timezones, i guess given you just posted that and its just gone half five it must be at midnightish.

PPV starts at midnight. There may be some kind of pre-show though.

FWIW EST is always 5 hours behind us apart from like a 2 week period because they change their clocks before we do.

Taker may have won the battle but HHH won the WARHORSE.

So HHH can bury a horse as well.

I guess Taker wasn't the only one HHH stopped from walking out of the arena that night.

And thus began Lilian Garcia's year of screw ups.

k I'm done.

That would have been so damn hilarious if the horse was going crazy running all over the place while HHH was sat on it making his entrance.

From a pure in-ring standpoint, I could see this being one of the better 'Manias of all time. The problem is, with the exception of a couple of matches, I'm not sure how great they've done at making us care about the feuds.

From the overall quality of the entire card, you can pretty much throw out the first nine WMs. You can throw out most of everything before X-Seven. I think you can throw out The last two. The rest are what is in the running from the "best" 'Manias, IMO. I didn't throw out anything between XX-XXIV because I really don't know much about that era. I think Wrestlemania 23 is the only 'Mania I haven't seen.
