C.M. Punk's first official public appearance since quitting the WWE is still scheduled for 2/12/14 on Comedy Central's @midnight. However, The Miz who was also scheduled for the show was pulled by the WWE.

@midnight is an awesome show to begin with. The potential for some punk awesome is almost too much for one little dnky to handle. Forget dvr, I'm watching that live.

Punk going into business for himself? Fully expect Road Dogg and Billy Gunn to invade the studio riding a tank.

@midnight is a very funny show. Not every show is great but when they have the right mix of comedians on it is hilarious.

Yeah, can be very hit and miss but generally has a couple of laughs even on a bad ep.

No idea how Punk will work out on it. He will potentially be hilarious on it in a way no other guest could be.

Random mini rant:

How is Goldberg not the IWC's most hated wrestler of all time? He had very little talent, stole Austin's look, injured wrestlers all the time, was a botch machine, ended Bret's career, wouldn't lay down clean for anyone and generally comes off as an arrogant bastard. In the WWE he was booked as a monster, squashed half the roster including Orton, HBK and Jericho in an elimination chamber, held the championship for around 8 months and was still complaining about the direction of his character.

He has never been pinned clean. The closest he has ever come to being pinned clean was Booker T in WCW after outside interference however immediately after being pinned he spears Booker and squashes him. The only other time was HHH at Armageddon 2003 after a low blow and chokeslam. Practically no selling the stunner at WM 20 still gets me mad. **** Goldberg.

Goldberg was really green when he started getting the mega push, which led to taking Bret out of the industry* and there is the hilarious WCW match where Regal went shoot on him and worked stiff on his blows.

But he was legitimately mega over throughout his career and is basically a textbook example of how you book a monster face. And the thing is I have never heard anyone say he was unwilling to improve and train, he was no Warrior, he was just pushed to the moon from day zero by the WCW bookers and was encouraged to work stiff which looked better on TV but inevitably led to injuries.

* the heel kick was a bad accident, the botches not knowing how to take a ringpost figure four was some mix of bad training, bad preparation or just carelessness deserves plenty of blame with much to go around

He told Bret he was throwing a kick after Bret hits the ropes; Bret had no idea what type of kick so there is some lack of training on Goldberg's part to be blamed for not being clear.

I can't stand Goldberg as a performer and he does come off as arrogant as hell not to mention rather stupid. I think he doesn't get talked about a lot because his career was so short and he wasn't really in many matches that the IWC goes back and watches. He does a lot for charity at least though.

And he only held the title for about 3 months in WWE before lolHHH got it back off him.

First time I've seen that. So it was supposed to be an absolute squash and instead Regal said f@ck that and put him to work with basic technical wrestling?

Regal is all kinds of awesome.

I read sometime that the idea it was meant to be a completely squash was made up, but he went completely off book calling most of the match with verbals and worked really stiff. Some of the technical stuff where Regal was clearly just working a lock and Goldberg had no idea how to counter was hilarious.

Goldberg's face after the two stiff kicks to the back and the pretty legit euro-uppercut was awesome and told you it just spiralled from then on.

going to have to call bs on that since Regal got fired for this performance. probably Goldberg's best match outside of the match with Hogan.

I thought Regal got fired for pissing on a stewardess during a flight.

I thought Goldberg did a great job there. As for Regal, the guy looks like sh*t. He looks like he hasn't seen a gym or a tanning bed for years. No wonder his drug addict ass got fired.

It's funny how a lot of fans hate on old school wrestlers like Bradshaw and Hardcore Holly for the way they would no-sell, stiff, potato, sandbag and generally sabotage young, up and coming wrestlers, but when Regal does it they're like "Lol Regal, what a legend!"

Yeah, I mean love William Regal but if he really went off of booking there to settle a personal score in the ring, then he was an unprofessional ass in that instance.

He went off book and worked stiff on the golden boy of the company. It doesnt need to be a booked squash for him to get fired for it, esp if there are other reasons that contributed too (Regal was very out of shape and had drug issues at the time which have always been considered a part of it whatever really happened).

Given what people have said and googling up a few POVs from the time to refresh my memory it was meant to be a bit of a one sided but relatively long (5-6 minute) match but Regal went too far either going completely off book or loosely interpreting the book and because of it made Goldberg look bad because he couldnt work these basic spots because he wasnt trained for them. He was also juicing the shots quite a bit, but not so much he was striking him full power.

Regal is confirmed amazing, and anyone who talks **** about him will be receiving Tajiri's wrath.
