I have actually turned down an invitation to a Wrestlemania party simply because I know everyone will be behind Dwayne and I won't be able to hack it. I'm perfectly happy watching it with just my girlfriend who is almost as anti-Dwayne as I am, despite being a pretty huge mark - her favourite wrestlers are Santino, Big Show and Punk (although she was a big Punk fan pre shoot/face turn).

Also it's £14.95 here, wow at $65. Could be due to it being on in the middle of the night though.

I'm planning on going to Wrestlemania next year btw. Was gonna do WM30 but the main attraction for the gf was NYC so gonna do 29 instead. Has anyone from the UK ever been to a 'mania and if so can you get travel/accommodation/WM tickets all as one package?

To each their own. I don't like to rub it in and if I was watching, say England vs Germany with a bunch of Germans and England won (yeah right), I'd just feel awkward.

Not that this really applies to wrestling though. I just don't really wanna watch it with a bunch of drunk people chanting along with Dwayne's catchphrases and laughing at his lady parts jokes.

Well it's simple then: just don't be friends with people who would find Rock's modern-day promos enjoyable.

I got people over last year playing the Rocky card, and they gave the same "WTF is this ****" reaction that I did to "I say yabba, you say dabba."

Lol I'm not going to unfriend someone just because they like things that I don't. That said, they're more just people I know rather than friends, I pretty much got the "this guy likes wrestling, let's invite him" invitation.

It depends how you define "friend" I guess; my girlfriend is also my best friend and after that I'd say my only other true friends are the two guys I'm in a band with who were also my best friends at school, one of whom I've known since I was like two years old. Everyone else is more of an acquaintance.

I mean, I was being facetious about actually unfriending someone based on enjoying modern-day Rock, but in all seriousness, most if not all of us loved The Rock in the past and just shake our heads at his lameness now...I see no reason why my friends wouldn't react similarly.

Meh, fair point I guess. To be honest I'd rather watch it on my own anyway, I'm a bit of a loner like that; I just saw another opportunity to have a dig at Dwayne, something I don't like to pass up.

By the way do people still think Dwayne being terrible is a work in order to get people on Cena's side? Lol if so.

I missed your post, sorry. I was replying to LKJ. Your suggestion is very reasonable but I'd still rather watch alone or with the gf if she stays up. Strangely enough nearly every wrestling fan I know of IRL or online (except people on here) still really likes Dwayne.

By the way I was a huge Austin mark but I'd be perfectly happy with never seeing him wrestle again just for the very small chance that he pulls a Dwayne and becomes terrible. Brock coming back would be awesome though.

I wouldn't on a monthly basis want to watch PPVs with the biggest marks; I prefer to just watch and chat with you guys on here. But I dunno, WrestleMania is wrestling's Super Bowl and I think it's fun to try to hook new fans with it.

I think part of it must be my shame of being a big wrestling fan. Nobody assumes fanaticism if you tell them you're going to watch WrestleMania. They do if you tell them you're going to watch Capitol Punishment.

Lol at feeling shame at being a fan. I derive huge pleasure from the funny looks I get when I tell people I'm a massive wrestling fan. If they don't like it they can GTFO. For example the two guys I mentioned before wouldn't be caught dead watching wrestling but they wouldn't think less of anyone who did. Lol judgmental people.

I readily volunteer my wrestling fanatascism and welcome any insults with open arms. I sometimes try to get my friends to watch with me, but very few stick around. It's just not "cool" right now, so people won't give it a chance.

Girl Wally informed me last night that Big Wally is secretely cheering for Cena, but since he threatened to kick me out of the family he can't tell me.
