Is anyone watching the wrestlemania re-run on nbc? I think HHH is going to end the streak.

Back in the day he was one of the people that drew the masses to wrestling for his flamboyance and ability to create a promo/soundbite. I didnt know this at the time but looking at Goldust, he is a sort of extenstion of it but as is the way now he could push more boundries. This was back in the day of the territories and for sure he brought alot to the modern game.

I personally was the same as you, I saw the tubby dude in the polka dots in WWF who really didnt do alot in the grand scheme, but yes you are missing some, I will search out a few you-tube docos for you in the next few days where it shows a small bit of what he was (not at my pc right now so cant search so much). Though, yeah Dusty was a showman in the vein of Billy Graham and some others in a macho world of wrestling they pushed some boundries.

Dusty wasn't ever a great worker in the ring. I'm not saying he sucked in the ring though but he was slightly above average. He just had the charisma and in ring psychology that really worked back in the day.

No he was always awful. dirtydiana will disagree and give some big speech about people busting down the doors of the Cow Palace in 1983, but he sucked badly at all times as a worker. That era gets credit for evolving wrestling into the more brawling style we know today but outside of that lol polka dots and Sweet Sapphire. People tell me Dusty had great promos but I could never understand anything his mush mouth was saying.

Also this Wrestlemania thing kind of stinks The show is going to start and end with HHH! Where is Edge? Where is Rock? It is almost over and we still haven't got to the end of one match? Wrestlemania was more than one match imo.

I didn't think Dusty was awful ... as a worker I don't think he was anything better than average, though. Bucketloads of charisma, though.

I have that on my shelf somewhere, what are your top 3? I will check that out later. Awful is overly strong I guess for Dusty, but he is pretty not-good for a "legend" imo.

Also lol the graphic when they come back from breaks is wrong, Wrestlemania was on April 3rd not the 1st, it says so on the ringside barriers. lol replay on partially botched Pedigree.

I think the truth lies somewhere between Tapirs and antidans posts on Dusty, personally I have never watched a match of his that I thought was groundbreaking (never seen the match Dan alludes too). He does have his place in history though because he did put bums in seats to see him in his younger days.

I've watched the DVD from start to finish several times over the past five years.

I could do the same thing with Bret's DVD or Foley's DVD.

recently watched the chi-town rumble, COTC match, and WWar matches from 89 and i have to say WWar is much better than the COTC match. it just had so much more intensity.

Most people pick the last match (WWar) of the Flair/Steamboat trilogy ... I just happen to really like that best-of-3 match for some reason.

There is a part on the Foley DVD that makes me cry laughing to this day. In the match against Vader when Foley does the flip off the apron there is a long pause as Schiovane has no idea what to say and then just says "..... whoa my!" Totally stupid but awesome.

That's the match where Foley says in his introduction of it that Schiavone spent much of the match overwhelmed and repeating "Oh my goodness!" over and over.

Must have been quite a traumatic childhood. Did he give you the bionic elbow if you didn't eat your peas and ****?

I just watched the WWE OMG youtube videos ... the Mercury broken nose in the third one is sick, I don't think I had seen that before. Ladder matches are truly sadistic.

Unresolved question from like ten years ago (the details are as accurate as I remember them; beyond the obvious silliness of the premise, the question isn't meant to be a joke):

Who would win in a coffee-table match, a triceratops toy or a wolverine action figure? The idea behind a coffee-table match is the first wrestler to be knocked off the table loses. Outlawed, though, are any kind of slams, because broken glass will result in parents getting angry. (The wolverine action figure is as tall as the triceratops toy is long.)

Semi-necessary story line: triceratops is rising through the rankings after a win against giant stuffed monkey. Monkey had a higher ranking, but his ooh-ooh-ahh-ahh piledriver had no effect against the triceratops' armor. Wolverine has a high power level but is suffering some stress in his relationship with stuffed valentine's day bear.
