I'm confused as to how they're different, but yes you're #2 in odd-numbered rounds.

With the #2 pick, I'll select:

Spoiler:

Seems fairly obligatory, though I guess some will disagree. I think there will be a few great options to pair Stone Cold against in the second round... at least, I hope so.

Draft terminology lesson:

"A" means that the round goes from #1 to #last. B means that the round goes from #last to #1. Using two letters to designate one round (as I think you're doing) is superfluous and confusing.

"Regular" means someone drafts first each round, someone drafts last each round, like the NFL/NBA/etc. This is AAAAAAAA. Obviously best used when you have preexisting teams that you want to give a boost to some of, or for a super deep draft where it really doesn't matter what order you go in.

"Snake" implies that someone picks first in the first round, last in the second round, first in the third round, etc. This is ABABABAB. This is your "normal" draft format for drafts like these, normal fantasy football drafts, and so forth.

"Reverse snake" implies that the snake is "reversed" starting in round 3. This is ABBABABA. This is best used when there's a really obvious #1 or top tier of 1-4 picks that will give an advantage that you want to negate.

"Banzai", or "third round reverse", goes even beyond that a bit to punish the top picks -- basically, you take a snake draft, but flip the third round, so that you end up with ABBBABAB.

I don't know what you call ABBBBBBB, but I've seen that, and should be basically used in situations like a German Dictators draft where there's a super-obvious dominating #1 pick.

This concludes our lesson. There may or may not be a quiz in the morning.

Yeah, as I said to Judy by PM last night, Hogan/Austin > Flair for this draft IMO. Flair would be my third.

agree with this. i actually think hogan is #1 because he allows for so much flexibility for his main event opponent.

Those were the clear top 3 imo for this draft. I think that the next few picks really just come down to preference and what type of card you want. There's a lot of different ways you can go.

Yup. Picking #4 may well be the worst spot a person could rand in this draft.

in fairness there's a lot of versatility for what you can do with trish stratus on a pay per view that people would tune in for

I think Hogan gives less flexibility for an opponent than either Austin or Flair does, actually.

Had I been #1 I would still have picked Austin I think but I would have given Flair heavy heavy consideration. I think it goes like

Austin
Flair

Hogan

The Rest

I usually think Austin is number 1 in these drafts, but for this particular draft I think Hogan is number 1. There's just so many possibilities that you can do with him to make a card draw huge. Not that you can't with Austin, I just think Hogan slightly edges him out in this format.

this

if we put some kind of WAR stat with wrestlers it's

1. hogan

2. the rest

it's easy to forget how enormous a draw hogan was. and even if he sucks ass as a worker compared to austin and flair (and he definitely does), he outdrew them by a huge margin. didn't matter at all who you paired him up against. he sold out any and every venue

so i guess it really all depends on the kind of ppv you want to put together. if you want a 5* main event hogan's definitely the worst of the 3, but if you want that sweet sweet buyrate/gate, it's easily hogan

Hogan was as good at the psychology/storytelling aspect of wrestling as anyone. While the modern-day comparison is John Cena, Hogan sold vulnerability and pain in a way that puts Cena to shame. His endgame "Hulking up" sequence contradicts that, but before that point in a match what I said certainly holds true.

And it really is true that in Japan he showed that he could go in the ring and that Vince was just telling him to be a five-move brawler over here. You, not being Vince and all, are free to lift that restriction. I doubt that your crowd will go "WTF, we don't want him doing wrestling moves."

I agree with SRM, Hogan is easily the #1 for me because he's such a huge draw. And that is despite being obviously worse than a guy like Flair in the ring and imo being less flexible in who to pair him with.

I thought you have to pick what Hogan you want. If you pick WWF Hogan that was a huge draw, you don't get Hogan in Japan that wrestled great matches. You get Hogan exactly as he was from whatever time frame you pick. You get his mic skills, ring work, and drawing ability.

Pretty sure Hogan drew like a beast in Japan during his prime too.

Point partially taken that there's some fuzziness there, but since Hogan had the capability at the time, I don't know that it's any more shocking for him to bust out those moves in a one-off match than it was for Cena to do a sit-out powerbomb and a (bad) hurracanrana the other night.
