Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

some of the matches for ROH Final Battle have been announced, and for the first time in many months of ROH, i am exite.

main event, LADDER WAR between Kevin Steen and El Generico.

this alone is worth the price of admission.

cage match would've been better since they did a ladder match in pwg but i am still interested in watching them fight on since their chemistry is off the charts.

I have my doubts you feel this way after you see how it was booked. It was an elimination match but Gargano was "injured." So instead of rolling him into the ring and pinning him (the match had already started) the other three leave Gargano to be attended to by a ref on the outside?!? The crowd knew Gargano was coming back so they talked amongst themselves (literally) and ignored the match until Gargano finally came back. The action was definitely good and there were some awesome spots but the booking and crowd killed it IMO.

Oh also a few times they were breaking up pins in an elimination match?!

Don't get me wrong the match was definitely good (and yayayay elimination matches) but five stars is dumb unless you have some new-aged inflated scale where you go up to seven stars.

In for the New Japan iPPV. Don't expect Tanahashi to drop or MITB to change hands but the card is amazing.

Same for the results. As much as I'd like to see Yujiro pull off a huge upset I want to see Tanahashi vs Okada 3 in the Dome on 1/4 with Okada winning. Yujiro vs Tanahashi will sure be a different kind of main event.

NJPW show was fantastic. Not as good as the last one I guess overall(?) but so much better than WWE for half the price. I am done with WWE and going to be watching nothing but ROH/DGUSA/NJPW iPPVs from now on.

Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

Shocked that the show hasn't come out yet . Want to see Tana do his thing.

big news for WK VII:
Quote:
The headlining matches for New Japan’s yearly big show has been announced.
Following the POWER STRUGGLE event on November 11, all 4 of these matches have been setup.
Hiroshi Tanahashi was successful in his 5th defense against Yujiro Takahashi, and will now be moving on to WK7 where he will meet, the winner of the G1 CLIMAX 22, Kazuchika Okada. Okada has defending his right to cha
llenge Tanahashi since August, and as proven himself to be ready for the opportunity to reclaim the belt. Tanahashi's title of ace of New Japan may also be on the line as well, as he is 36 years old and going up against the future of NJPW in the 25 year old Okada.
Nakamura was successful in retaining his IWGP IC belt against KArl Anderson on November 11 and now has what is possible one of the toughest challenges before as he is set to face the "IQ Wrestler" Kazushi Sakuraba. Sakuraba of course is one of the biggest names in Japanese MMA and could be a big defense for Nakamura, if not a strong test for his skills in the ring.
Togi Makabe and Katsutori Shibata have a lot heat between themselves heading into the WK7 match. This will be a pure grudge match with Makabe finally looking to end this latest run of the former New Japan Young Lion, while there is a lot of speculation that Shibata is aiming to go against Hiroshi Tanahashi and the IWGP Heavy belt.
The IWGP Jr. Heavy belt will be defended in a triple threat match between three present and former champions. All three of these men have tried to lay claim to the best junior wrestler in Japan today, if not the world, and come January 4 we may know who is really the best.

NJPW Presents WRESTLE KINGDOM 7 ~EVOLUTION~ in Tokyo Dome, 1/4/2013 [Fri] 17:00 @ Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan

(-) IWGP Jr. Heavy Championship Triple Threat Match: [67th Champion] Prince Devitt vs. Low Ki vs. Kota Ibushi
~ 1st Defense.
(-) Togi Makabe vs. Katsuyori Shibata
(-) IWGP Intercontinental Championship Match: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kazushi Sakuraba
~ 4th Defense.
(-) Main Event ~ IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: [58th Champion] Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada
~ 6th Defense.
I have no idea who the **** Shibata or Sakuraba are but lots of people are excited to watch them and seeing as they're on the upper card it should be good. I've heard a lot about Shibata but have yet to see him wrestle. Going to find some clips on youtube and matches on theditch.us. Them having the faith to do another 3 way just shows how good the 3 way will be, can't wait for that match.

I hope Takahashi is on the card somewhere too, he is entertaining. I <3 Tanahashi but think Okada is going over for sure.

i could say this about nearly everybody on the NJPW roster. Takahashi is one of my personal favorites but I even find Cpt. NJPW incredibly entertaining. Also much to Taichi

Yeah, I think Tanahashi is going to beat Okada about as much as I think Punk would beat Taker at WM if it were to happen. Okada not winning at WK would be a disaster. I don't think they'd have him lose back to Tanahashi again so who could take it? Hopefully he holds till the next WK.

Apparently Daichi Hashimoto (son of NJPW legend Shinya) is signed to wrestle which is going to be off the charts. Check out some of his work from Zero-1 if you haven't seen him.

He is Sakuraba:

(Contains few broken arms at the end.)

http://www.cagesideseats.com/2012/8/...-pro-wrestling
Quote:
However, the biggest surprise was Pride legend Kazushi Sakuraba appearing on the show to announce his intention to wrestle for NJPW in the future. This would be a return to his roots, as Sakuraba started his career as a pro wrestler for Nobuhiko Takada's Union of Wrestling Forces International (UWFi) promotion from 1993-1996, where he was a talented undercard performer. He worked several dates for NJPW in late '95 / early '96 as a part of New Japan's inter-promotional feud with the UWFi, where he was largely put over New Japan's junior heavyweights, as NJPW were calling the shots with the UWFi being on the verge of bankruptcy and indeed closed up shop soon after the feud ran its course. Sakuraba probably would have become a fairly big wrestling star in time, but instead joined fledgling MMA promotion Pride with Takada, where he found greater fame by beating the Gracies at their own game, defeating all four of Royler, Renzo, Ryan and Royce. His subsequent fights with Wanderlei Silva and Mirko Cro Cop drew huge sold out crowds at domed stadiums, and he remained a television ratings draw even as his skills started to evaporate from all the huge beatings he took during his career.
Also, count me in as one who can't wait for the January show.

Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

So wrapped up in watching old WWF stuff I didn't even realize there was a NJPW ippv last night until I saw a results thread for it (that i didn't open ). It's already uploaded and can't wait to watch . I don't expect amazing from this though since it's just the Tag League finals but it does have Tanahashi/Okada in a tag match since it's the go home ppv to WK7. Match 7 will probably be really good.

NJPW, 12/2/12 (WPW/iPPV)
Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium

1. Yuji Nagata, Masaaki Mochizuki , Ryusuke Taguchi & BUSHI vs. Minoru Suzuki, TAKA Michinoku , Taichi & Kengo Mashimo
2. Rush & Diamante Azul vs. YOSHI-HASHI & Jado
3. World Tag League – Semi Final: Togi Makabe & Wataru Inoue vs. Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr.
4. World Tag League – Semi Final: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima vs. Hirooki Goto & Karl Anderson
5. Manabu Nakanishi & Strong Man vs. Toru Yano & Takashi Iizuka
6. MVP & Shelton Benjamin vs. Masato Tanaka & Yujiro Takahashi
7. Shinsuke Nakamura & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kazushi Sakuraba & Katsuyori Shibata
8. Hiroshi Tanahashi & KUSHIDA vs. Kazuchika Okada & Gedo
9. World Tag League – Final:

Tag League finals looks like it's going to be Archer/Smith vs Goto/Anderson.

Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

Evolve 18 had some good action but felt kind of flat overall thanks to a ****ty crowd. I want to watch the VOD though.

CZW Cage Of Death 14 is only 2.5 matches in but has been awesome and hilarious so far. Will be doing a write-up of this one for sure.

NEW JACK!!

I need to whip out all my puro VHS/DVD stuff someday and just have a marathon. I swear I must have tens of thousands of hours of footage I ordered from Jeff Lynch for some absurd amount back in the day. That catalog he used to send out was hilarious though. He actually still e-mails me every month lol.
