That missed flying forearm by Naito into the Rainmaker by Okada was how the 3/4/12 match ended. I really thought Okada had it there. jfc.

Was that the best counter ever in wrestling? I'm talking about the reverse hurricanrana. That was amazing.

Wow. I do not agree.

I wanted Okada to win and I still feel like this:

Amazing show as always.

That match was incredible. It went ~35 minutes and I didn't think it'd go 20. It started out fast and it never let up. I do wish Naito won. It reminds me of when Gedo had Tanahashi beat Okada at WK VII when Okada was the hottest wrestler on the planet. It took them two more years to actually anoint him as the man. It's clear that Tanahashi's not going back to the top and knocking Naito down like this is bad.

Match power rankings:
1. Okada vs. Naito
2. Jericho vs. Omega
3. MiSu vs. Goto
4. Jr. 4-way
5. Jr. Tag

Yeah, I put MiSu/Goto over the Jr. match. The former was really good and I felt like the 4-way dragged a bit and it lost me and the crowd at points. This is probably a lock for show of the year...again.

We're very likely getting Ibushi vs. Okada at New Beginnings in early February. New Years Dash tomorrow

Probably accurate. The main event was really really good despite me not liking the result. Okada still a good.

That’s so ****ing terrible. Okada puts on great matches but NJPWs main event scene won’t be remotely interesting for quite some time.

Can't believe how good Omega/Jericho was. I think it was better than Okada/Naito TBH, most of the Okada/Naito match kinda bored me though the last 10 minutes were great.

Also agree that Okada at the top is getting stale for me. It would be amazing (if downright completely unlikely) if Ibushi shock beats him.

Any chance Jericho challenges Naito to a future match somewhere? Those two have kinda been "feuding" in their comments.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this annoyed at a result of a match before. They had an amazing story fall into their lap and aborted it to keep your already record holding champ who’s spent the last 3 years legitimately running through EVERYONE there is strong.

So so so disappointing.

I agree. If this match wasn't so good, everyone would be ****ting on the booking. I think I'd have been annoyed when either of them lost but more so with Naito. I want Okada to break Tanahashi's defense record but Naito deserved to win and more than that, his reputation is failing at the Dome. Sure he beat Tanahashi last year but he's like 1-7 at the Dome or something. This cements him as a failure in big matches for another year even in spite of winning the G-1 and having been the champ < two years ago.

Jericho vs Omega was truly awesome. Jericho was at his absolute best the entire match. There wasnt a boring part of the match and the continuity was all there. Definitely the best match I've seen in a long time. Jericho is nearing GOAT status. I've only seen a half dozen Omega matches and he's very good.

Notes:

-I wish Jericho came out to his WWE theme.
-Omega took the Codebreaker the best I've ever seen.
-I like that Jericho is growing the hair out.
-Omega throws a lot of knees.
-Nice to see a chair shot to the head.

Quick reminder that NYD is happening in a few hours. Even better is that it's absolutely free on NJPW World if you don't have it atm.

I won't be staying up to watch this . Old and past my bed time.

Nature Boy, check out the codebreaker that Kenny took that set the match up. Even better. I do agree that last night's was great, though.

I loved that match between those two. I think Okada/Naito was better but Jericho/Kenny was more fun. I've never been a Jericho fan and that made me one. Great stuff.

Was about to post that there was no Jericho and then that happens. Really enjoying this run so far, he's pretty much become the biggest heel in NJPW in like 3 appearances.

Got myself caught up with all the NJPW stuff.

Great match, but don't understand why Okada won. Omega/Jericho was so much fun.

Most of New Year's Dash was good. They set up a whole bunch of feuds nicely.

Super happy we will get Jericho/Naito, I figured as much given the pre-WK comments. So awesome to have Jericho "sticking" around even if it's part-time.

The Omega/Cody BC stuff remains interesting and I'm even looking a bit forward to Omega/Cody now. Omega/White should be good. The BC could look quite different depending on what direction they go with all of this. Omega (and the Bucks) could theoretically get kicked out with Cody taking over. White could still be involved in a shakeup, too (although I don't think that would fit his character).

Did they set up anything specifically for Okada? I didn't see the whole show.

After thinking it over I'm even more furious. Okada is like the 35th most interesting character on the roster because of his HHHian reign of terror and I'm seriously over it. I WONDER IF HE CAN BEAT SANADA?!?!?!

Jericho/Naito does nothing for me because there are no stakes and that match cam only end one way.

Omega/Cody would be interesting if Cody wasn't garbage.

Jay White as exciting as his name.

NJPW as a wrestling product is fantastic but the booking is just a joke right now.

Just kind of pondering this a few seconds ago...

Did Gedo sacrifice Naito for Jericho?

Jericho can't beat Kenny because Kenny. Jericho can't win the US championship because him having another match was supposed to be a surprise.

Jericho loses to Kenny. If Jericho is eventually going to face Okada, he needs a legit win. Naito loses to Okada because the money match in Gedo's eyes is Okada/Jericho.

Jericho's going to beat Naito. Jericho gets a shot at the IWGP championship w/Okada and loses.

What are the chances that had Jericho not come into NJPW that Naito wins the belt at WK? I think it's almost certain.

I feel personally attacked by that post.

I actually am rooting for Okada to win the g1, change the name of the company to New Japan Pro Okada and set up Okada vs Okada for all the marbles at WrestleOkada 13.
