I did a bit of searching before making this thread and couldn't find anywhere that this was being discussed.

I've watched like 20 minutes of some random episode, and holy crap this is so much better than I expected.

I'll definitely start watching this as a priority over watching TNA from here no out.

They have an interesting way of doing things with the backstage segments; they seem like a movie scene or a story rather than a hype video or skit, and they like to bring up the background/history of the character.

Hopefully they are willing and able to stick with how they are doing things in order to build a foundation rather than rapidly changing everything. Nobody cares about 'shock' without foundations to be shocked, and they need time to let stars develop.

I've recorded a few episodes and it's definitely different. John Morrison is in it as Johnny Mundo, and a few other guys I think I recognized.

This isn't me bashing, but just feel like sharing. I read the Thanksgiving day episode of this show drew only 5,000 fans, which was apparently some kind of record. However, just two weeks later it was up to 36,000. Understandable why it would be down on Thanksgiving, of course.

Moor is right, the backstage segments are interesting. I haven't seen enough to decide if I think it's corny or cool yet.

Well worth checking out. A good friend of mine wrestles for them and told me it's the best company he's worked for. Better than WWE or TNA. They know how to treat their talent and they know how to book a show.

Another great show from Lucha Underground this week.

At this point, I'd say they're putting out more entertaining content than NXT is (and that's saying something).

At this point, I think the only think Raw over LU/NXT is the fact that it's a live show, which adds a level of unpredictability that just isn't there for taped shows.

In ring stuff wasn't quite as good this week, but the build to Ultima Lucha is pretty solid.

I imagine the card will be:

Johnny Mundo vs. Alberto El Patron (already confirmed)
Prince Puma vs. Mil Muertes (pretty much guaranteed)
Angelico/Son of Havoc/Ivelisse vs. Disciples of Death (can't imagine this isn't happening)
Fenix vs. Aero Star vs. Jack Evans vs. ???? vs. ???? vs. ???? vs. ???? (makes sense to finish of the Aztec Medallion thing here)
Pentagon Jr. vs. Vampiro (if Vampiro can fight)
Hernandez vs. Drago (unless they put both guys in the Aztec Medallion match)
King Cuerno vs. Kill Shot (ditto)

I wish I could watch Lucha Underground (and especially Ultima Lucha) "live".

It's amazing how much easier builds are when you don't over saturate the product. It actually seems like they have too many feuds going right now to completely settle all of them at Ultima Lucha.

I dont know if you are a podcast listener or not, but if you are listen to Austin's from Thursday. He had one of the EPs from Lucha on and it was a very interesting conversation. He also sounded a lot more optimistic about a season 2, so I maay go and get caught up. Hopefully Netflix will pick it up after the season is over
