so i watched this earlier. when i said in the old gimmicks that could still work thread that they could bring back king of the ring, this isn't how i wanted it to happen, i.e. over and done in 24 hours

barrett going over works i guess, helps neville which can't be bad, develops dolph/sheamus into something that might not be as bad as the previous build

The old ones were over and done in 3 hours and the first few were pretty damn enjoyable.

The old ones were built up with qualifying matches over the course of 4-6 weeks.

I remember qualifying matches for the old ones in the weeks leading up to the PPV. Also, the old ones weren't announced only 24 hours in advance, with the website still saying the day of the event there are rumors that King of the Ring might be back (although they had already announced it was).

I made a quick bracket last night at work before I knew it would be over in one evening. I had 32 wrestlers. A few were a reach, both too high on the card and too low. But it could have been so easy to do this right. Even if the WWE can only dig up 28 guys for brackets, give 4 byes into the quarter-final.

Here is the dream scenario I had.

15 minute time limit(and we all they only go 8ish)

4 weeks of 4 matches.

2 weeks of 4 matches. - this is the quarter finals.

semi final and Final same night. Final could either be 2/3 falls or 30 minute time limit.

7 weeks of WWEN content. Much better than Superstars.

Plus during Raw and SD, these dont have to interfere with current storylines, but some light crossover would be nice.

As things worked out, BNB winning is about as good as it gets with what it was. I just wish it was more meanginful.

Would love to see something like this. I don't know why they don't do more competitions and stuff in what is essentially a fake sport.

What makes it even more bizarre is that the WWE loves easy formulaic writing and you don't get match easier than a tournament. Set an outcome and book the matches around it. It's an easy way to elevate a guy and also start angles between the other wrestlers.

Vince doesn't think tournaments and such draw.

I guess there's too much sport and not enough entertainment.

What are his thoughts on Kofi vs. Ziggler?

"Hmmm...sounds like an intriguing matchup that we haven't done before. Let's make this a match on our next PPV. Roman vs Big Show and Orton vs Cena will be the co-main events. Raw and Smackdown for the next 3 weeks should feature these guys in 6-man tags."

I'm a bit surprised Ziggler hasn't already joined with Kidd and Cesaro so he can finally step in the ring with Kofi.
