the first tournaments showed how Ju Jitsu is the single most important thing for any MMA fighter, that still stands today.
watching the first tournaments isn't about wanting to see brutal beatings, it's about seeing both the evolution and the way that the most skilled martial artist figures out a way to win, which is inspiring, and again is evident today.
a guy new to mma can't appreciate the skill involved with positions against the cage and on the ground which is therefore boring to watch. if you see how important it is vs guys who don't know it automatically makes that part more interesting.
