I understand them not being able to keep Punk off tv because SS was only a few weeks away and they couldn't realistically not have him on the PPV, but man did they botch everything.
This is pretty much how I felt when Orton returned from injury last time around and fueded with the McMahons and HHH. When he first came back I was interested in Orton for the first time ever and his anti-establishment, unhinged character was a refreshing change, he seemed like a proper bad ass in the mold of Austin.
Then they had him become a cowardly heel who gets outboxed by Shane O'Mac before ultimately being destroyed by HHH. I believe the way his new character started off, not unlike Punk, showed a lot of potential and he could have legitimately been on Cena's level had they not F'd it up and made him like every other heel on the roster. Following Taker/HBK at WM25 was never going to be easy but perhaps everyone wouldn't have crapped on the HHH/Orton match if they hadn't already neutered Orton's new character and taken all of the intrigue out of the end result.
