When I said he wouldn't wrestle only 8 minutes, I thought he'd go 25ish...not 35+.

Sami Zayn saved Owens? what?

As someone who didn't see him in the indies: is Sami able to play heel effectively?

He's never been a heel. El Generico was always a face.

When Shane jumped off the cage against Taker, there was clearly a pad under the table. I didn't notice a pad here.

I've watched every chapter of the Generico/Owens rivalry since Owens cracked Sami with a chair in 2009. This development brings a tear to my eye.

the tables seem thicker, almost like padded?

But still, Zayn/Owens hate each other, how does this make any sense (I know lolwwe)

Thanks. He's hard to imagine as a heel. He's as much of a natural babyface as they come.

Thats a swerve I can get behind

I'm guessing they will go with Sami being upset at Shane for not giving him better opportunities on SD...?

Seems like the obvious route. It didn't seem he was there for KO even though he threw KO on top of Shane.

100% forgettable PPV.

That was an interesting swerve. Sami maybe plays the tweener role for a while before eventually turning heel before wm? Maybe a shane o mac hunter tag team match?

I am probably giving the writting too much credit but I believe Shane is actually the one that locked the door. It could be that Shane wanted the door locked to trap owens inside with him; not necessarily that they were supposed to be locked inside.

As for the pinfall ropebreak thing

I always kind of thought that transcended the gimmick in the same way a kick out would.

Man, I was surprised how far they went with both cell matches. Usos/New Day was pretty damn violent and Owens/Shane was just an insane stuntfest that had me kind of stressing out about both guys. People are always yearning for this attitude era stuff, but I don't really love watching a ton of weapon shots and choreographed stunts.

The Sami turn is pretty bad to me. He's such a great babyface and should have had a long journey to the title (or a title) imo. No idea how they're going to explain it without destroying his character, but Shane not giving him opportunities makes sense. I guess he could also still have some sympathy for Owens given their friendship, but it really felt like they removed any possibility of him caring about Owens in the storyline.

I didn't know Sami turned, going to check that out at least.

I'm 100% with you about violent matches and high risk spots. I'm finding myself getting nervous in some matches a lot more than I used to when I was younger.

I'm already talking myself into liking the finish, possibly a lot. There are tons of interesting story directions they can go and it means Zayn is going to be a bigger part of the show, which is good. The end result of KO + Sami teaming up is also obviously a big net positive for SD.

I also think there are enough ways for it to make sense. Sami didn't want to watch his former best friend get destroyed, even after all they've been through, and he has reasons to be annoyed at the McMahons given his spot on the card. Given his facial expressions, I'm hoping it ends up being more nuanced than him just flipping a switch from good to evil.

Obviously this is with the caveat that they're very likely to take the dumbest route possible with everything. But this has me excited to see where they're going, which is more than can be said for a lot of other big angles they do.

Shane's top of the cell jump was (again) impressive, Kevin on top I could feel his feel of frustration of wanting to jump off but couldn't while I wanted to see it, I put myself in his spot and that drop would not feel like an easy choice to make.

Someone should swap an image of Shane in this vid.

When they were both up there it felt like real danger, it had me like oh **** what is gonna happen, I hope nothing bad like the top of cage parts failing, it felt like some very bad things could have happened and I'm glad they didn't, eventually KO took a respectable drop onto an announce table which was still pretty high, and Shane delivered with his top of the cage drop, was impressive, fk the haters.

Still want to see a Shane O Mac image swapped into this vid though lol.

New Day vs Uso's surprised me as a good match, I didn't expect that and have very much not looked forward to it, I usually try to watch the PPV's on the network on a 30 min delay so I can skip ahead until I eventually catch up, but I found myself watching the entire New Day/Uso match.

As far as the other matches, would have to rewatch to say anything good about them.

KO vs. Shane delivered, It's easy to pass off Shane's spot with the drop off the cage because it has been done before, but fack, that was a helluva drop and I don't care who you are took some brass balls to do that.

Was one of the better PPV's in recent memory.

Didn't even realize this happened last night.

So...

Jinder is still champ. Corbin is US champ. Sami Zayn is a heel now.

WTF.

I really hate how Jinder is booked. We know WWE is only capable of two types of heels - the jacked, ruthless brute from another country and the cowardly cheater. It seems obvious to me that Jinder should fall into the former but of course that's not the case. I suppose the cowardly heel who cheats to win route is understandable considering he was previously a legit full on jobber, but it's really boring to see the same stuff over and over with him.
