Bootista was possibly the greatest chant in wrestling history.

Yep. While Minneapolis doesn't have the body of work that a Chicago does, even just being that heroic for one night is enough to make me hopeful when WWE goes through there now.

What a weird situation. Bryan essentially (apparently) has a clause in his contract that states that his deal can be extended to make up for the time he misses if he misses a bunch of time. They won't clear him, so he can't wrestle in WWE, and he can't go work elsewhere since he's under contract and will probably get his deal extended forever until he works, which clearly isn't happening. Vince can essentially just hold him hostage.

So he would essentially be getting paid to do nothing? Doesn't sound like a hostage situation to me

I really just want to picture your avatar saying this then ending with "Hey, what're ya gonna do, ya know?"

Considering his passion for performing and his likely financial status of fine, I'd be willing to bet he very strongly disagrees.

I'm still shocked at how successful Batista has been as an actor. I wonder if that success has led to Vince being less trustful of crowd reactions when it should have led him to re-evaluate what top faces should be today and his booking.

I mean lets say for the sake of argument the crowd accepted BLUETISTA as a super face. So what? He's still gone after the success of GoG

But I don't think Batista is THE reason Vince was less trustful. In his mind there's probably things like 'I pushed Ryder, I pushed punk, you still don't watch, **** you'

I also wonder if batista's success is the beginning of the end of Cena in the WWE. It's one thing for the rock to be the one in a million success but when ****ing Batista is getting a supporting role in a Scorsese movie it might be time to reconsider wrestling for vince

Edit: deniro, not Scorsese

If you believe what Batista says, he is and has been willing to come back to WWE to do house shows only. Because he thinks creative is terrible.

But ya, Bootista's life arc is pretty damn fascinating

If he feels that way he should be more interested in doing NXT. Doesn't it film near his home anyway?

I wonder if Batista even knows anything about what NXT is right now. He might find "Would you go to NXT?" equal to "Would you go back to OVW?"

I'll always appreciate that Batista called out Vince for telling Daniel Bryan to no sell a beat down like Cena does, then Vince defending that decision on the basis of "creative license".

Watching Lo Ki vs. Bryan vs. Christopher Daniels - Main event of the very first ROH show, "The Era of Honor Begins". Great ****ing match that put ROH and Bryan Danielson on the map.

I don't watch wrestling (this century). Prior to last night, I hadn't watched since Wrestlemania, and last night was the first RAW I've seen since I went two years ago. But I was in attendance last night, and I'm really glad I was. I don't know how much they showed on the broadcast, but Bryan was out there for almost half hour. I actually teared up. It was an incredible thing to experience.

Loved all 3 back then especially Daniels. Didn't realise how old Daniels was until last year.

ESPN interview with Jonathan Coachman

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=14750304

Speaks about 10 documented concussions plus probably several more. Also mentions confirmed brain lesions.

Loved to watch him perform, but yeah, I'm glad his in-ring career is over.

Is it possible that Vince's reluctance to give Bryan the push 2-3 years ago that so many fans wanted was due to the developing history of Bryan's concussions? And how easily someone's track record of that type of medical history can lead to an abbreviated career. Consequently Vince didnt want to put his company on the shoulders on such a "risky" bet?

Or is this giving Vince to much credit/benefit of the doubt?

That creative guy that did a shoot a week or two ago said that Vince's always hesitant to push smaller guys because they're more likely to get injured. While that may or may not be true, a smaller guy (Bryan and Seth) has vacated the world title due to injury in each of the last two years.
Daniel Bryan announcing immediate retirement Quote

Vince supposedly thinks about injury proneness in general a lot more in deciding who to push than fans do.

In sports analytics, a lot of debate exists about how well we can detect injury proneness and forecast the likelihood of future injuries. But I do think it can safely be said that, all else equal, someone is a lot less likely to get injured working a style where you don't take a ton of big bumps like Kane than if you wrestle like Ziggler or Owens. Small guys usually work a more high flying style so I suppose they probably are more likely to be injured, but if Big Show took bumps like a tiny indy guy I'm sure he would get hurt also.

A troll gets banned, in real life:

"Monday Night Raw last night was a poignant episode, as it focused on the retirement of Daniel Bryan.

After over sixteen years wrestling around the World, Bryan has accrued multiple injuries and more concussions than he can remember. A test taken two weeks ago confirmed that those concussions have caused damage to Bryan's brain and have forced the 'American Dragon' to retire.

Bryan ended RAW last night by addressing the crowd, thanking them for supporting him and expressing his gratitude of having such an incredible career. However, one fan in the crowd tried to ruin it and got himself thrown out by security.
According to a user on the Squared Circle subreddit, the fan was trying to chant “na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye” during a quiet part of Bryan’s retirement speech.

As you can imagine, other fans around him were less than enthused and neither, it seems, were security. "
