Create a card from scratch draft - interest + signup thread - Wrestling -- Two Plus Two Poker Forums

draft idea:

kinda like our "create-a-company" drafts but slightly more focused, which i think could allow everyone to maintain interest.

basically, it's a "create-a-card" draft.

you would draft participants for the following matches within the card:

1. world title, main event match
2. regular match
3. secondary title match
4. regular match
5. tag title match
6. regular match

some details/discussion points:

---if we're drafting tag teams as one entity, then this would be a 12-round draft (two wrestlers per match). maybe we can add 13th round in order to allow for a triple threat match?

---thoughts on restricting wrestlers based on their real-life role within a company? in other words, your world title match MUST involve two former world champions and not be something like Owen Hart vs. Rick Rude. I think this would make it more interesting and could avoid people from just drafting superstars and doing stuff like tag matches between bruno sammartino and georgeous george etc.

--the "regular matches" could obviously have former world champs in them, though.

i dont want to run this but i was just thinking about it and figured id post it. so i dont care what you guys do with the above rules. feel free to change them as you wish.

Official ruling on Burdz: go hard or go home. Your troll drafts are less funny than a Jay Leno monologue.

We can wait until this gets 8-10 people and then kick it off, providing for people to join while the first round is still ongoing.

Meh. Force people to have those types of matches? I think filling out the rest of your card should be artistry left up to the drafter with the type of matches they want. One person might want a cruiserweight match, another might want a gimmick match of some sort, etc.

Like I said, 15 rounds, give room for a triple threat, or announcers, or if you want to pick 2 cruiserweights or Divas (ha) and have a 7th match fine... easy game IMO.

cruiserweight seems like it could work/be a good idea.

not sure what to think of the 4/5 star req requirement yet. im concerned there arent enough "superstars" to go around for this. so some people will end up with Bret Hart to satisfy this requirement and others will get some random indy/japanese guy. it might be unbalanced.

i think tag teams should be selected as one unit (no megapowers angling) and must be used as a team.

i would say multiple tag matches is fine

I think the more "must" categories you set up, the less interesting you make the draft. The fun of drafts is seeing which way everyone takes it. Except for Burdz's drafts.

definitely have to have held the tag titles together.

beyond that, i think this will be a "know it when you see it" kind of thing.

then again, if you can ONLY use your tag selection in a tag-team match, does it matter a whole it?

Yeah, if you draft the Hart Foundation and you have to use them as a team then cool, they were awesome, but you're getting late 80's/early 90's Bret Hart who was just a good tag team wrestler and nothing more.

yeah my point is that if you want to draft SCSA and Mick Foley as a tag team then you're wasting them and will probably have a crappy card.

maybe im just not thinking of all the scenarios.

no, they would have to hold the titles.

that's like saying "can i have a wrestler who never won the world title in my main event" which would basically mean you could use every wrestler ever without limitation.

That'd be fine IMO. I mean I can only think of like one team that fits that bill who is also really good, and that's a weird use of one half of that team, but yeah it's fine to use a non-champion clearly established team.
