Gronk is hosting and it will now be two nights (Saturday and Sunday). This limits the number of people gathering in the arena and will make the show much more digestible, so good move. It's still going to be very weird and not ideal obv.
If they insist on doing it, I really wish they would just go ahead and film it and take these 2 weeks to work on editing and production. You think it's bad when the mic picks up Cena calling spots in a packed arena? Just wait.
These empty arena shows by both companies are solid efforts (and appreciated in the current situation) but damn do I find them incredibly boring. The best part have been Austin saying gimmie a hell yeah followed by a cut to empty seats.
I definitely think they should take a page from the ultimate deletion and just film it all in advance and spend time editing it all into a more concise package that takes advantage of being able to do that instead of just running the shows as normal.
I'll definitely watch due to curiosity and boredom though.
I just realized that this being a two-night event means that, for the first time in company history, they can credibly claim to have had a double main event.
(I assume they'll still claim to have had five main events or whatever.)
While betting on wrestling events is kind of silly in general, I had been wondering if there might be increased interest based on the fact that there's simply very little else for people to wager on. But having the event not even live makes it even worse. I wonder who would even offer it now.
Ironically, the lack of Mania opponents appearing in segments together and various versions of tag matches against each other prior to the event, makes the matches more meaningful for me. I'm almost interested in seeing most of it now.
I'm not seeing anything on the regulated books, but would expect DraftKings to do something for the event.
It is so ****ing weird that this is going to be part of the historical WrestleMania series. WrestleMania 2 finally gets to breathe a sigh of relief, no longer having any legitimate claim to strangest Mania ever.
Also reading DB has an autoimmune issue, not sure which one, and is taking a big risk continuing to work. May want to become a part timer soon too. Probably so he can main event big ppvs.
A lot of speculation going around about other wrestlers dropping out and not feeling comfortable competing, or showing signs of illness (WWE isn't letting anyone in the building who is even faintly ill). Should be an interesting show for sure.
I think they've already taped most (maybe all) of the material for Mania and the next couple weeks of TV. Then I think it might be taken out of his hands and we won't have wrestling for awhile.
Vince will do whatever he can to have live programming I think. He probably knows that if WWE takes a long hiatus, a lot of fans won't come back.
Yeah this was done taping by end of Thursday as well as RAW after Mania. It was fortuitous timing too as Florida was going on lockdown at 11pm Thursday so Mania almost didn't happen.
Talent seems to be dropping by the hour. I don't know how they could have already taped when every few hours I hear about another person being unavailable. And if a couple of people are feeling sick, then they all should probably quarantine for awhile. I don't see how they get done anything that isn't already done.
