Oh I completely forgot about Billy Graham somehow, pretty nice value there.

By the way was Bischoff on anyone’s board or was that complete spew?

I have Bischoff as noteworthy, but not Hall of Fame-worthy.

I’d have taken bischoff ... eventually. Probably in like 4-5 rounds.

I don’t think there’s such a thing as “spew” in this, unless someone takes Fandango.

Sniped on Graham.

Round 9, Pick 6:

Spoiler:

Jim Cornette is probably the greatest manager ever not named Bobby Heenan, managing some of the greatest tag teams of all time in the 80s, before jumping to the WWF in the mid-90s for a memorable run. Also a great promoter, booker, commentator, on-screen authority figure, podcaster, meme inspirer and all around cantankerous son of a *****.

I assumed that Bischoff was going to be taken at some point in this draft I just had no idea when.

I dunno, Cornette is a good pick who inexplicably wasn’t on my board (I did think of him a few days ago but forgot to put him on it) but I picked Bischoff specifically because he made WCW into the biggest promotion in the world for a while, which Cornette never did. I’ve decided I prob picked him a little early though.

Sorry I’ve not been around much, I’ll try and catch up with writeups and comment on other people’s halls in the next couple days.

Round 9, Pick 7:

https://youtu.be/gdT1clsLsYs

Spoiler:
The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts, and Jimmy Garvin)

One of the greatest tag teams ever, The Fabulous Freebirds are one of only a handful of teams that were a main event-level attraction. They've been a part of some of the hottest feuds in wrestling history and were champions almost everywhere at one time or another during their 15 year run. They're also the namesake behind "the Freebird rule" which has become an institution for mostly heel tag teams for almost 40 years.

Round 10, Pick 1:

https://youtu.be/tzIjQtoGWwQ

Spoiler:
CM Punk

It's hard to put a value on what the long-term impact CM Punk will have on the industry, but I think on resume alone he provides a ton of value at this point in the draft. A two-time WWE Champion (including a 434-day reign), three-time World Heavyweight Champion, ECW Champion, and Intercontinental Champion in the WWE; he was also ROH World Champion and IWA-Mid-South Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion before that.

He will be most remembered, probably, for his incredible mic skills. Where Phil Brooks, the person, ends and CM Punk, the wrestler, begins is almost impossible to determine. He is his character, it seems, and has been able to just slightly change his delivery to draw cheers or incite boos through his whole career, as well as anyone.

Those that witnessed the end if his ROH career will also remember Punk for the incredible angle he ran as a Champion on his way out the door during "The Summer of Punk."

Round 10, Pick 2:

Spoiler:

Bryan Danielson

Inducted by: UNDRAFTED

I think we can pretty much all agree that the artist currently known as Daniel Bryan is a surefire Hall of Famer regardless of how his comeback turns out. He’s an indy legend who, against all odds and despite all the backstage forces working against him, parlayed that into becoming the most popular wrestler in the world in 2014, who main evented WrestleMania 30 and walked away with all the gold simply because the fans demanded it. At his peak, he was the greatest wrestler in the world, and by the time his career is over, he’ll be in the conversation for greatest pure wrestler of all time. And despite not being top-notch on the mic, he’s a compelling character in the ring, whether face or heel.

I think this is as good a spot as any to take one of the best champions in the history of the AWA. This man in conjunction with his manager, Bobby Heenan, entertained the fans of the upper Midwest thought the 70’s and early 80’s. He was also one of the all time best on the microphone and used a gigantic vocabulary do get his point across. With my next selection, I’ll take:

Nick Bockwinkle

Next selection...

Spoiler:

Curt Hennig, after a nice run in AWA that featured an all-time classic against the just-selected Nick Bockwinkle, went on to become one of the most memorable figures of the Golden Era under the moniker of Mr. Perfect. It's a shame that injury kept this peak period of his career from being very long, but he made an indelible mark in any case.

I struggled to figure out where Hennig rated here, but I think that Ted DiBiase provides a decent guide point; since he went several rounds ago, Hennig can't be too bad here.

Sorry about picking without a write-up or some sort of media but was just waking up and didn't wanna hold up.

I think The Dudleys may have been able to wait another round or two because they were never great workers and never drew a bunch of money but they're the most decorated tag team of all time with an absurd amount of tag title wins (20+). They were pretty innovative in their day, not just with the TLC matches, but with their finisher and table spots.

I would do this right and have them inducted by "The Quintessential Stud Muffin" Joel "It's so hard to keep from hurtin' her" Gertner.

Antonino Rocca

Antonino "Argentina" Rocca was one of the biggest draws in wrestling for over 10 years, and at one point headlined every single show at Madison Square Garden for seven years straight. He was one of the first wrestlers to use an acrobatic style of wrestling and was also well known outside of wrestling; he was once depicted wrestling Superman on the cover of a Superman comic.

That seems like a fine pick, but even if it weren't I'd give it a good grade based on the writeup.

GOAT writeup was still that time in the OOT draft that someone alerted the person with a Ricardo Rodriguez gimmick to check in and pick for them.

Alright, it thoroughly disgusts me to make this pick, but whatever, better me make this pick than someone who would actually enjoy doing it.

Spoiler:

D-Generation X, ****ing obnoxious as they were, was a significant force in the Attitude Era and made a big impact for years. In fact, I heard they got in a tank one night and singlehandedly won the Monday Night Wars!

I select the HHH/X-Pac/Chyna/NAO rendition that developed after HBK retired. Awfully tough to pick a presenter since nobody liked them and Mrs. Helmsley probably wouldn't much like to induct Chyna. Also it would be weird for HBK to do it since it's kind of a snub to him. I guess that pretty much leaves Nash and Hall, and while Hall is superior in all ways, I'll give Nash the nod because I have no interest in enjoying this imaginary induction segment and would rather Hall not succeed in causing me some sort of enjoyment of it.

For my next pick, I'm taking one of the most influential men of the business from 1959-1984. He was involved with wrestling in many different backstage roles from 1949-2003. He's a guy who I had no idea existed until he was mentioned on TLF a couple of years ago. I will introduce him as Jack did on the latest edition of TLF when Bruno happened to cross his path in 1962:

Spoiler:
JIM MOTHER****ING BARNETT

Spoiler:

He seemingly had a hand in anything big that happened in wrestling. The biggest of which was probably him selling his share of Georgia Championship Wrestling to Vince Jr. in 1984 which would create Black Saturday. In return, Jim got a lifetime job with Vince but he was fired for talking to Crockett in 1987. His last job in wrestling: a consultant for WWE in 02/03. He died in 2004.

An interesting tidbit with him: Paul E. Dangerously and James E. Cornette both come from James E. Barnett. Jim Cornette's real name is James Cornette but his MI is an M.

If it isn't obvious, I find this guy incredibly fascinating. If there was one guy who's book I'd want to read, it's James E. Barnett.

iso and LKJ need to get together and figure out their order. As for my pick, I need a man behind the mic. An announcer, if you will. Well since the two greatest to ever call wr taking are already taken, I might as well go with the greatest interviewer of all time. Some might also say that he was also the greatest shiller of all time for being able to get people to call that terrible hotline.

For my next pick, I’ll take:

I had told LKJ itt that he could go prior to me because I'd be away for a while. I was back sooner than expected and deleted that post prior LKJ posting. LKJ and I posted our picks at the same time. My bad on that.

I feel like my next pick should’ve gone way sooner...

Round 11, Pick 6:

Spoiler:

Pedro Morales

Inducted by: Bob Backlund

A pioneer for Puerto Ricans and Latino wrestlers in general, Morales became the first ever Latino world heavyweight champion with his WWWF title win in 1972. He and Bruno Sammartino headlined the very first Showdown at Shea, wrestling to a 75-minute curfew draw in what was at the time an unheard-of face vs. face matchup. Morales would return the WWF in 1980 to win the WWF Intercontinental and tag team championships, becoming the WWF’s first ever Triple Crown winner.
