This is the other theme I have up on Mount Entrancemore. Perfect entrance music for Savage when he first came in -- the arrogant, preening heel coming out to Pomp and Circumstance. Over time, it became iconic and indelibly linked to Savage, which was amazing considering it was written at the turn of the LAST century. I'm sure there are still Macho Man impressions being done at some graduation every year.
Not many wrestlers have had the same theme or a ripoff thereof for 30 years. A timeless piece, this is part of a classical song made in the 1890s.
Whether you hate Flair or love Flair, it is the perfect theme. For those that see him as the best ever, it is the perfect tribute. For those who see him as overrated and unethical, the perfect symbol of his arrogance and hubris.
Slot Moorobot's pick right in the Hogan tier, which is to say it's a fine pick. I think the songs above them "made" the wrestler that much better than the picks below them.
(I'm not sure if Flair would have been just the same with different music, but I suspect he would have.)
I don't really agree on the glass breaking being anything that made Austin big to any significant extent. He got himself over with his own awesomeness, and it was his awesomeness that made the glass breaking such a strong cue for a big pop. It wasn't "hell yeah, the glass breaking is a great sound in a vacuum," it was "AUSTIN!"
Taker got a rub from Taker's theme. Austin's theme got a rub from Austin.
Although you all may think this is ludicrous... there is one undrafted where he was probably known more for his music than his abilities in the ring. I gotta believe he's a late 1st round - early 2nd round choice.
