Great show. Main event had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Really fun match. The one downer's that Roderick Strong of all people was involved in AEW's biggest match ever. Not one person cares about him in this story line.

At what point do people just write Punk off as a piece of ****?

It all seems very unrealistic, Punk choking someone out? We have seen him fight.

Pretty clear this is all on Jungle if you know the backstory to this comment:

and by all accounts Jungle was the one to confront Punk backstage and get physical first.

By all accounts you mean some, other accounts are saying he did very little.

I'm old and now don't know how to embed things.

There's also a point, which was ages ago not now, where you go ohh everyone wants to beat this guys head in and thinks he's a ****, ye probably not a great guy.

I've only seen Miro say it's untrue and I believe he was saying the reports of a fight were untrue (before TK confirmed it), not that it wasn't Jungleboy that instigated things but I could be wrong there. Punk may be a prick and not a great guy but it's pretty clear to everyone that Jungle's in the wrong for this. He's the one who made all of this public because he's being a petty dumbass for not being able to use glass in a low card feud vs. HOOK

Jungle was also escorted out of Wembley by security after the scuffle so it'd seem he was the one who escalated things. *shrug*

PWInsider and Fightful Select both reported that other versions of events have claimed Punk threw a punch at Perry. Miro has claimed the stories about the altercation are "fake and untrue."
https://cultaholic.com/posts/aew-inv...erry-at-all-in (edit - just quoting the source so you can see I wasn't speaking out of my ass not to carry on the same point).

I don't disagree that if it's don't use real glass, lol fu I used real glass all just seems stupid from jungleboy's POV. Then going backstage and thinking you're better for doing it is even more stupid.

It was a separate point brought up by this really (I just so happened to have watched a video on it before you posted) I just don't get why people still stick up for Punk. It's taking the argument of any other line of business and I suppose that doesn't apply really.

because you can be in the right even if you're a jerk. i'm far from a punk mark. i was just sharing the news and then saying why it happened. to me, it's just interesting drama and mostly because it is Punk and it happens to him a lot...for some reason

I was wrong here though. Something I suppose we'll never know the real story on

Thinking logically about it though, it'd make more sense if Punk approached Jungle and then it got physical because why would Jungle go up to him and say "see what I said out there?!?! HUH!?!? BITCH!!!"

If the wrestlers in the match are both cool with using real glass, who gives a ****?

I'd have thought a company would have some duty of care? Also it added nothing to that spot other than saying it was real glass which only really puts down other spots.

It also tends to be a case of hurting more, looking worse imo. In person I've only ever seen gimicked glass bottles and they look much cooler than actually seeing a glass bottle hit someone.

But it looked fine? Yeah, I bet it hurt a lot more— using real glass is dumb. But again, that’s their choice.

I understand Perry’s annoyance. It’s not any of Punk’s business. If TK didn’t approve of real glass, then there wouldn’t have been real glass. Also, “real glass” is a misnomer. It was still a windshield, which is laminated or tempered. Best Friends and BCC *just* did the same spot in the parking lot brawl.

Here’s hoping this is just a (stupid) work.

I assume you don't know the backstory to the glass comment based on the bolded. Two or three weeks ago, Jungleboy wanted to use glass in an angle with HOOK on Collision. Punk is an agent on Collision. Punk told him he couldn't do it. Jungleboy was said to be furious Punk told him no. The "it's real glass" comment was Jungleboy saying "**** you" to Punk.

Is it just me or was that brainbuster Cole gave to MJF on the corner of the ring steps probably the dumbest spot of the night? That could have gone really wrong.

I'd be happy never seeing anything that dangerous again. It cut MJF's shoulder a bit and I think they're lucky that's the worst thing that happened there. When Cole setup the suplex I thought there was 0 chance he was going to hit it

The setup didn't really make sense either. They had to land it in the exact spot they were standing. Cole is relatively weak and MJF quite a bit bigger than him so to trust Cole to land your biggest star safely (if there even is a safe way to land that) is a pretty big ask. If his spine hits the point of the stairs instead of his shoulder then that's possibly a career ending injury.

God. Rewatching and it's just so so stupid. I really can't believe they did that. I expect Darby to push the limits but I actually think he'd even do a double take at taking that suplex (even being quite smaller than MJF). Cole and MJF aren't what I'd consider dumb risk taking workers, either so it's quite weird and makes it more appalling to me

Kudos to MJF I guess. Agree that was a stupid spot that added little in a best case scenario but the level of trust and investment you need to have in someone to go for it in a throwaway moment is a testament to your dedication to the craft

Granted this is also how Benoit ended up with so many shots to the head he killed 2 people then himself but still

Lol, thats quite the hyperbole. MJF is arguably one of the safest workers in the business. He had some wild spots in CZW, but we’ve seen nothing like that in AEW.

If there’s a right time to punch your bump card, it’s definitely during the main event of the biggest wrestling show ever.
