Also if he's just going to get Flight of the Valkyries, give him the full original Wagner version rather than just the intro followed by a transition into whatever that was. The non-bastardized Flight of the Valkyries could still be a good entrance theme, and certainly an upgrade on what WWE did to it.

But the lack of Final Countdown is unfortunate with so many others coming out to licensed popular music, no way around it.

At least there's a billion hits when I go on Twitter and search for "Final Countdown." We weren't the only disappointed ones. Hopefully lunatic wrestling fans will keep blowing up Tony Khan about this.

Don't count your chickens. It was a good show for sure, but I'm far from hooked on the product in general.

When I scrolled for other dissatisfied customers who wanted "Final Countdown," I also saw a bunch of them being happy about Adam Cole.

Can I assume that this is just about the stupid **** where he gives them a catch phrase to sing along with?

I have no idea who Adam Cole is.

He has a catch phrase. People like it. People are bad at this.

To be clear, I don’t remember him being bad or anything. He’s alright. He just has no business being so over.

and in the indies he'd yell "suck my dick" in every match while pointing to his crotch. he's pretty much a terrible HBK but everyone loves him for some reason. LKJ and I are the two exceptions.

edit: only mention that "smd" thing because I figure he'll bring it out on a ppv some day or maybe every ppv.

so much to unpack. just finished rampage (last night) and the PPV.

lkj youre never going to enjoy this product (or possibly any other). you are jaded sir!

for me, that was possibly the best PPV ive ever seen. compare it to summer slam (the only wwe program ive watched in about 2 years. light years better.

i loved LOVED the chris jericho foot on the rope WE NEED ANOTHER REF angle. i watched it like 4 times. so ridiculous/awesome.

all the tropes were there tonight. the only thing i could have asked for was a CM punk heel turn. that would have made my night.

Well that's certainly one way to react to me calling something a good show.

Probably one of, if not the, best talents to come from NXT in the last 3/4 years. His contract recently ran out and apparently Vince pushed hard for him to stay. But his partner (Britt Baker) and lot of his old friends are at AEW, so not a huge surprise he's gone. Barely watched NXT during his run, became a little jaded with wrestling in general, but what I did see of his matches on Takeover's were good.

$50k per play apparently, so they went with something else.

Yeah, **** that for 50k. Apparently Europe hates that song so they charge out the ass for it, lol.

2 days later, I’m still buzzing. This was legendary.

Same. Hyped for Dynamite tomorrow night. Also Pac on Rampage!!!!!!!!!!!

Per Meltzer's podcast, Bryan had a friend do his theme.

I didn't realize MiSu vs. Moxley's on Dynamite. So much more hyped now!

During All Out, I ended up enjoying seeing MiSu elbow and layout Mox the most despite being a huge mark for Bryan.

Dustin vs. Black on Dynamite too which sounds like a fun near squash.

Yeah...didn't exactly work out as well as Francis Ford Coppola hiring his dad to create some music for The Godfather Trilogy. I guess that means we're probably just stuck with whatever that was.

I’m a big fan of AEW’s current product but they’re going bankrupt within 5 years. The only reason they’re ‘succeeding’ is cuz wrestling is dying, not cuz there’s some earthshattering product. There’s no mainstream appeal, it’s a product for smarks which is great for us but there’s no way they don’t have too much overhead to sustain its current model

Having said that they are compelling, the roster is deep enough and the shows are just long enough that feuds aren’t recycled, the match quality is excellent and ya danielson and punk back is never a bad thing

im not talking trash at all. you just have a very high bar for rasslin (imo). all these old tropes are awesome every time, and i believe aew did a great job of storytelling in the ppv. great tag team match, tho i could use less blood. a second ref which was awesome. a heel turn in adam cole (it should have been punk, at least he has a couple weeks body of work here). im glad you liked it; i was just reacting to the live comments you all made.

edit: maybe im a fanboy of aew lol! im having all those discussions right now with regard to formula 1, where i am absolutely aghast at the fanboy's never ending defense of the governing body. i do feel like i would be critical of aew if i thought it was garbage, but maybe not lol. all i know is im entertained every week, and thats all i care about.

the x factor is that the big money and son are fans i think. they are on the perfect network. they could reduce costs and be less flashy i would think. i donno, they must make good money on the live shows, merch, advertising, etc., but i dont know enough to know if theyre bleeding. they should hire me, i would whip them into shape financially! (sick brag: im officially debt free as of today (own home/cars/etc outright). i just sold my rental in seattle at an ungodly ludicrous price.)

I mean, wrestling crowds being super annoying is a thing that is never ever going away, and me bitching about how annoying they are is only going away if I stop watching. I suppose that's the price I pay for being on board with the crowds burning everything down to get Danielson his WWE Title win back in 2014.

I'd be open to being convinced since I'm not knowledgeable of the company product, but at first blush I totally disagree that Punk should turn heel right now. I like Christian Cage, but if he's the babyface world title challenger at a big PPV then the company is short on top babyface talent, and Punk is the most over babyface in the company.

A time will come for Punk to have another heel run since he's awesome at it, but I think it would be too cute by half to turn him right now. Seems like it gets you to one of two results: (1) the turn works, you can actually get the crowd to hate him, and in doing that you're killing one of the biggest sources of excitement/momentum they have right now; or (2) the turn fails, a bunch of the crowd refuses to accept it, and you end up with some weird mixed crowd that doesn't serve anyone well.

Anyway, I loved the tag match and the Punk-Darby match. And I liked the women's battle royal a lot too. That, as well as the Danielson appearance (even without Final Countdown), is plenty for me to consider the whole thing to be a good/really good show.

if someone like you enjoyed it, they are doing some things right! i agree on all this, except i wanted punk heel. no one would have expected it, those are the rasslin moments i live for. i donno if you lived thru the nWo, but that ish was awesome. everyone turned heel lol, and it was so ridiculous and awesome. then there were too many of them, of course. anyway, just hope they keep this momentum up, and get some ratings too. just from this thread, i see more ppl interested who werent before, but they need that in the numbers too. they are around 1m i think, which is like 1/3 of wwe, maybe better than that? i would like them to get to 1/2 of wwe.
