AEW has me interested and has done for the past 6 months, and I went off wrestling for years.

No, they don't get everything right. For instance the filler tag matches whilst usually of a good standard, have "spots" for the sake of it.

Good things - Butcher & Blade, Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, John Silver.

The women's division stinks.

I like Darby Allin as well, but man I find that Coffin Drop finisher so shite.

There are 2 wrestlers to me that will be big players for 2021 and how AEW does. I think they need to sign both.

Ethan Page & Tessa Blanchard.

Ethan Page to me has big time main event upside. He's pretty complete to me in terms of talent.

Tessa Blanchard can immediately shoot the women's division in the arm. She would become the champion after feuding with Shida and have a Moxley like run. Is she a headcase? Yes, but the women's division is so poor that you pay her and let her dominate it. They can't let her go to WWE and then feud with Sasha, Charlotte, and all the rest of their talent.

Tessa Blanchard is poison and causes constant drama in the back. TNA gave her the strap, a rocket, and she held them up for more $.
Completely not worth it regardless of talent.

Just cleared last week's ep off the DVR.

I really enjoyed the reunion at the end. Although, why did nobody else come out to thwart off the invaders?

But I hated everything else.

It's like play wrestling. They make sure everyone knows it's not real.

Jericho doesn't know who he is on commentary. A heel, a face, does he want to be cool. He's hugging Snoop and then goes back to bashing him again. He doesn't stop screaming. How many announcers do they need anyway.

It feels like anyone who shows up gets to be on the show and do whatever they want. It looks like they're pulling fans out of the audience sometimes. There are very few instances where I believe someone on the show is in danger.

Dopey friends guy sets up a match with Rusev Day (who was booked better in WWE by the way) and agrees to a stip where he becomes Mero's ***** if he looses. Shouldn't he ask for something if he wins?

And what the hell is even the point of a weigh in for a wrestling match where there are no weight limits?

I'm becoming a wrestling grump, but since there's less football now, I'll probably be grumping more shows through Mania or until baseball season starts more regularly again. Or until the shows put me into a coma.

Lol, my wife was on the phone with a recruiter and this got an involuntary laugh out of me when it came up. Whoops.

Find it strange that Tony Kahn has a presence on the Impact show every week, where he comes off as a heel whether that's intended or not, yet never shows up on his own show. Alternatively, Don Callis has a larger presence on AEW tv than his own show.

Also couldn't figure out if Taz and friends were banned from the building this week, how did they get a live mic?

Will Knobbs and that stupid smirk.

Do one.

Can someone explain why Sammy was so pissed off at MJF for recording him when he told the camera man to stay and record them?

They really need someone to think this stupidity through.

Christian

well they badly needed a talker but they can't figure out if they're trying the same idea as WCW 2000 ish or TNA 2005

The ending of that ppv was the most embarrassing **** ever. Seeing Kingston have to sell any of that when sparklers where a good 5 feet from him is so sad. Audience correctly booing at it. How did they think that was a good idea?

For those who haven't yet seen:

Eddie Kingston selling it as actual death is the best part

FYI i think its pretty clear now that it was just a mechanical botch, and AEW wasn't trying to actually sell that as their big ring explosion.

The mini rope explosions during the match were more impactful. Something happened, and the result was an awfully embarrassing disappointment.

Shame too, because I was enjoying the hell out of that before hand.

Moxley spoke to the live crowd after the PPV cut off, probably felt compelled to after that. Good for him.

Khan admits this was the intended result by saying "unless you wanted them to actually blow the guys up, there's only so much you can do.". But in the same breath, he said "What Moxley said afterwards is canon". Which of course, makes no sense given the announcers reaction and Kingston's selling. Probably best they never mention it again.

Like, you dont need to blow them up. Have a loud boom, a TON of smoke and sparks, and have the ring implode like the Big Show/Lesnar superplex.

How hard is that?

Or don’t have an exploding death match if you can’t do it right? Do all death matches have the clock that explodes everything ?

The last hour of last night was actually the first time I'd watched AEW in months, due the combo of absolutely nothing on and the fact that I liked the first Omega/Moxley deathmatch they did in 2019.

The cinematic match was actually pretty good other than Taz opening a soda on commentary in the first few minutes, combined with Taz commentary and the fact that he could never decide if it was live or pre-recorded.

The Barbed Wire match was pretty lame even before the spectacular promotion-defining failure that was the finish. But man was that hilarious to watch live.

I want tto say the ending was great but when you have a heel/face turn in virtually every damn segment, it kinda lessens the impact. I guess the Big Show’s impact is being shown here.

Is that why all the babyfaces at ringside have been doing sing along with Jericho for months? At least it will actually make sense now.

I guess I was wrong. I found the one segment without a heel/face turn. It was this awesomeness.

To be fair though, I agree with you. There are weeks you don't know who is playing what.

Just look at Matt Hardy. Jericho etc was never explained.
