The blade job is just gross and bad to me. They're trying to put on a very old school match as a testament to their dad which I can respect, but I'm not very into it.

Despite not being fan of this much blood, this match has been a lot better than I thought it would be.

I'm difficult to impress with blood, but I've been okay with it this time. The story here has been really good until it turned into another kickoutfest.

I guess I'm in the minority that thinks blood in the right place adds a lot to the match.

Thinking of Vampiro/Pentagon Jr at Ultima Lucha 1 and Bret/Austin at WM13.

No, I agree with this. But this was 80% of the way to Eddie/JBL. When it's obscene buckets of blood, any potential value in the blood is reduced quite a bit.

The broader context of this show made it feel try-hard and self-indulgent to me. Especially with Cody's very thinly veiled shot at Triple H before the match.

In general, it's hard for me to buy into Cody after his WWE run and knowing his backstage position. It feels like he's doing the Triple H thing where he always makes sure he has the most epic match of the show and looks the coolest.

I can't stomach Eddie/JBL, so if Cody/Dustin was 80% of that, I'm glad I didn't see it.

He's undead. Don't you guys know that? He died in Montreal sometime in November 1997.

(I'm still a little snarky about that part in his book, where he says WWE killed his character. What character? You were the guy who never had one! You're just a good wrestler. Sheesh. OK I'm done.)

The blood was a bit too much for me. Agree it can add to a match but thought they went a bit overboard.

I didn't realise you weren't watching. Cody started his entrance by destroying HHH's "throne" with a sledgehammer.

IMO the worst part of his book was when he blatantly lied and said that he was certain that Rocky was going to be one of the greatest of all time when he saw him at Survivor Series '96.

Yeah I didn't buy it either (and he still claims it's true. If it is, it was nothing more than a lucky guess).

Yeah, I mean Rocky plainly couldn't talk worth a damn then, and the fact that he went from sub-par (to put it nicely) on the mic to near-GOAT on the mic is the biggest reason that he became one of the all-time greats.

Bret may well believe by now that he thought it then, but that's probably just the magic of hindsight bias.

But he was/is a Canadian hero! At least that's what he said in '97.
