Daniels still impressive at 49 years old.

Lot of fun spots in that one. I do find it really discouraging that this seems like it's going to follow the NXT mold of favoring superman kickouts though.

Lost me when it turned into a standard Raw 6 man tag where everyone just goes and hits their big move then gets hit by one in succession.

first half was pretty sweet though

production value seems good

i think this booth would be good as 2 instead of 3. as is, we had multiple instances of stories/insight being cut short by the third person jumping in

I wish that one-fall wasn't the industry default for four-way matches. Elimination is so much better IMO.

This is probably me being a nit, but it always bothers me when the whole logic of tag wrestling goes out the window and everyone just hits their moves illegally, which has become kind of the standard way these matches are booked across all companies lately. The Revival actually had a funny thing on Twitter talking about the rules and how they try to stick to them every match.

Pretty sloppy match but some ok stuff in there. Pikachu Bailey had some good moves.

Unfortunately it seems that you're right, but given AEW's general sales pitch up to this point about trying to be the more realistic product than the garbage we get elsewhere, I don't know that it was unreasonable to hope that this was a point that they would improve upon.

JR informs us that Aja Kong is "not just another pretty face."

That's...a premise I don't think anyone needed to be disabused of.

That was mostly in regard to wins and losses mattering more. But I do get the point, and it's one of my major criticisms of Kenny Omega matches. A couple V-triggers, a J-Driller or a reverse rana should end matches. Hitting all of them, and having every opponent kick out of all of them, in every match is ... well, terrible.

I didn't follow exactly what they said at the start of the tag match, but JR was propping up something as more realistic in terms of the rules, or at least that's what it sounded like. I thought he said the five-count to get in and out was being eliminated, but then the match didn't play out that way. He still kept beating the drum of making tag team wrestling more realistic though. I guess my takeaway had been that they were trying to get away from silly kayfabe-breaking tropes.

But again, I agree, now that two matches have already featured the superman kickouts, I can almost surely forget about it being a goal for this company to keep away from those.

It does seem to be a thing where wrestlers started consciously playing towards Meltzer's (and the type of fan who reads him) biases and trying to achieve "five stars" over telling a real story in the ring. This is a topic I could rant about for awhile wrt how people think of "workrate."

Anyways, it's kind of cool to see a Joshi match even though I don't know who anyone is.
