Surprised there isn't a thread up for this already.

Looking forward to seeing Moxley be awesome and loling that it's $50 in the US but £15 here.

I loved good ole JR back in the day. He was bad for NJPW but I was hoping it was just him not really working with the promotion much and being in a studio instead of ringside. Turns out he just doesn't give a **** anymore.

Quote:
Question: What are you excited to see at Double or Nothing?

JR: There's a six women, Japanese women's match on the card. I'm not sure why it's there other than diversity in the booking."

That's particularly quite an answer to "what are you excited to see."

me at the announcement of aew: having active wrestlers book things seems like a recipe to repeat all of the issues of favoritism and creative issues the past was riddled with

first aew ppv: neville refuses to go because he doesnt want to job, the elites friend hangman gets the first win and title shot

its a shame because wwe desperately needs to have competition but there are red flags everywhere here (between living in the 90s by hiring jr to be your announcer and said creative control issues that are obviously going be a problem)

They also seem to be very good at video packages from the start. I really like the cody/goldust package

If the premise of your promotion is that it's going to be more legit, less hokey, and overall different from WWE, I think making that battle royal a lot of people's first introduction to the product is super questionable.

This is a reasonable point.

I happen to think most of this show will rock. Also, as far as AEW's long-term success, it's totally irrelevant. Weekly TV will decide that, for better or worse.

the type of fan that will attend an AEW show at this point is the same as an NXT one. Expect an awful crowd when it comes to distracting chants

Decent first singles match. Couple cool spots near the end, especially the suplex over the top rope, then doubling up on the floor. Hadn't seen that before.

Was that Noeele Foley in the crowd?

JR is surely a short term thing, was with Jericho.

They signed JR to a 3 year deal so I don't think that they think it's a short term deal.

One of my biggest hopes is that AEW does a few things differently production wise. Most notably refraining from cutting to the crowd over and over during a match.
