The time has arrived, the votes are in and have been counted; who are, as Gorilla Monsoon would say, the greatest professional athletes in the world today? (er, the greatest wrestlers of the Wrestlemania years)?
I'll have entrance music for everybody, sometimes obscure entrance music, sometimes with comments or quotes about or by the wrestler, sometimes with some magazine covers with them on it. But sometimes with just the music, then right on to the next wrestler. I'll link all the rest of the music for ease of use purposes.
At #100 we have a tie, between two very different wrestlers. One used a ton of different gimmicks to complement his fine in ring work, while the other kept the same gimmick for the better part of 25 years and relied on his charisma. Who just made the list?
Hayes probably holds the world record for most times being fired, but he was always rehired by somebody due to his charisma, creativity, and mic skills. His peak years were right before the time period of this list.
Hayes once got angry with ring announcer Gary Capetta for refusing a stranger‘s offer of drugs instead of acquiring them for him. He also once kicked and screamed for more money after Jerry Lawler burned his hair in a match; successfully, if you think getting an extra hundred bucks is successful.
A monster who claimed to turn down a promise from Vince Mcmahon to Main Event Wrestlemania II against Hulk Hogan, kept leaving wrestling to run a gym, and retired early due to a neck injury, Nikita is able to make our list anyway on the strength of a few good years.
Nikita once used perhaps the least fitting entrance theme of any wrestler ever:
Mike Awesome was utilized rather poorly in both WCW and WWF. He had a great combination of size and in ring ability, in addition to some level of charisma.
