Showing Only 1 Card When Called Showing Only 1 Card When Called

Anyone complaining about showing 1 card that makes a strong hand (especially if the other card doesn't even play) is a total and complete nit. If you're beat, muck. If you're too incompetent to know if you're beat, table your hand and let the dealer figure it out.

This. Unless there's some serious IWTSTH weirdness going on, YOU can immediately end the problem by tabling your hand.

Well, yeah, but then THEY win.

I realize posters here who show first if they don't have to mean well. They believe they're doing a good thing by speeding up the showdown. Sadly they end up doing precisely the opposite!

Why?

Showing first when you don't have to rewards and enables stallers and one-carders who attempt to cheat the showdown order rules.

Easy to understand explanation:

Player A got called by Player B and is a staller. Player B is a 2P2 old timer who's been playing $1/$2 for 30 years.

1. Player A gets called, knows he has to show first but deliberately stalls.
2. Player B decides to do something good for the game and decides to show first to "speed up the game".
3. Player A thinks "A-ha! Cool! I'll keep stalling, this is working!" and proceeds to stall the next 30 showdowns at this table which... cumulatively slows down the game A LOT more than the 1-sec speed up gained in this single showdown.

Net effect = SLOWER showdowns at this table

Compare this to:

1. Player A got called by wild and crazy purplebliss who refuses to heed 2P2's old timer's wisdom.
2. Player A stalls. purplebliss causes an extra delay of 1 second or less by politely motioning at A's cards. Knowing that the gig is up A shows immediately.
3. Player A is now much less likely to stall and cause delays at this table, not only vs purplebliss but vs any player. This is especially true if he got barked at by the dealer to show or muck.

Net effect = FASTER showdowns at this table.

I'm done with this thread too as some people refuse to accept simple logic, and I've articulated things clearly enough.

Except it's not working is it? Your theory has been refuted in practice.

I'm just going to lock this up because the OP asked a question, it was answered and now there's an argument between the OP and the rest of the forum about the answers.
