I gots to know. What's the deal with guys who wear a WSOP hat to the table? Are these super-awesome players I should be scared of? And if so, how does it help them to tip me off? And how come they're slumming at 1/2?

And while we're at it, keeping in mind that I'm not a very good poker player, and I'm still learning this game -- do you guys wear sunglasses at the table? I've known for a long time that people who wear sunglasses indoors are insane. I assumed it was different in poker. But I have somehow been encumbered by the no doubt mistaken impression that people who wear shades at 1/2 are complete tools. That can't be right, can it?

Also, do you know where I can buy a T-shirt that says, "I don't give a rat's ass if you call or not"?

Solid reads, and yes you got it right.

I can just see them looking in the mirror with their sunglasses and wsop hat on saying "you're a ****ing berretta you're super cool".

How come the hoodies and earbuds/headphones* don't get any love here?

Too close to home, I guess.

Spoiler:
* More signs of toolery, imo. Especially the fancy noise-cancelling headphones. I remember seeing this one guy wearing big black ones with shiny gold trim. Must've been a captain in the Tool Brigade.

OTOH I feel that Dre headphones represent an investment in one's game. Respect the red cable.

Try CafePress for the shirt, and barring that, you could always make it yourself on Zazzle.com. But really, if WSOP hats make you look like a d-bag, what do you think poker shirts do?

I've never played with a good player that is wearing sunglasses(have relatively large amounts of experience at 1/2, 2/5, 5/10 and 20/40 limit games). It is mainly middle aged fish that learned poker from watching WSOP.

I'll sometimes wear my FullTilt hat at the table. Is that the sign of a tool? It does give me an opportunity to reuse my joke about it being "the most expensive hat I'll ever own".

I heard a great one last week...

"Do I have to pay the waitress with cash or can I use chips?"

sweeeeet!

What was I thinking?

I hate it when people start begging you to tell them what you have. Unless you're Daniel Negreanu, just stop. I usually go out of my way to tell them the truth, which really makes them mad. Heh!

Poker related tattoos are absolute worst IMO.
Seeing someone wearing sleeveless shirt with poker tattoo on his shoulder...

Yikes, how old are you? I've rarely seen anyone over about 30 wearing sunglasses. My impression is that it is usually younger guys who wear them.

Of course, I consider myself middle aged--as long as I live to 112.

The hat is pretty sad.

I am a low stakes player at the local casinos in my area and for a long time I thought the same about morons wearing sunglasses at the tables. They're almost always idiot donkey kids my age (24 or younger) that learned how to play poker on ESPN. Then it hit me one day, and so I decided for just that reason and a few others to wear sunglasses myself. I want people to write me off as a tool because I believe it makes it easier to take their money. I chose blue oakleys and decided to start wearing bright clothes to the tables that kids slightly younger than myself in college with rich parents would normally wear. The result has been astounding. People just never seem to give me credit when I first show up for my big hands anymore, and at the same time people are much friendlier. It's pretty desirable at low stakes because 99% of these people couldn't properly play LAG or run solid bluffs if their lives depending on it, and the easier people warm up to you, the easier it is to take their money.

So I say... tool it up!! My profits are definitely bigger since doing so. Also, it's much easier to watch careless people for basic tells with the sunglasses because they don't even know they're being watched. Personally, I find that quite relieving because I feel like a ****ing creeper when I sit there just watching people for like 8 hours straight.

Yes I know this is bad just think of me as the reporter, becuase I nearly laughed myself to death when this happened.

Girl with lots (yes there is such a thing as too much) of cleavage in a 1-3 nl game asks her opponent after facing a $250 river bet, "What do you want me to do?"

The guy doesn't miss a beat-"We'll for starters you can take your top off."

The guy gets kicked out of the cardroom for a month-but not before she calls and loses.

It's just a ****ing hat. You don't go to a hockey game and ask everyone why they're wearing hockey Jerseys of their favorite players, right? What about a golfer that wears a hat from the US Open?

(disclaimer, I just wear whatever I have on that day and I don't own anything that could be considered "poker related" attire).

I think this is in your imagination.

I or most other competent players are not going to make wierd plays or call you off lighter based on the fact your wearing sunglases. and incompetent players are gonna be incompetent anyway regardless of what you look like.

As for seeing tells I think I see them more clearly without the glasses.

Its time to be honest with yourself as to why you choose to behave in this manner.

Good luck with your life yours Beergutter.

Maybe, but I'd still not rather stare at people and have it be known. It's just rude and makes me feel like an ass.

Also, as far as how I look I think it mainly only changes things for people who aren't good in the first place. I rarely play with sophisticated players. I go out of my way to play with the worst people possible.

This is pretty bad. A friend of mine recently said "It's kind of like walking into a bagel shop with a swastika tattooed on your face.
