NY casinos? NY casinos?

08-08-2012 , 10:30 PM
I go to school right on the Hudson, so about a 50 mile drive to NYC, and roughly a 3 hour trip to AC. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any decent casinos that are closer than Atlantic City (shorter trip). I'm not very familiar with NY at all, even though I've been going to school in the area for over 3 years now, so thanks for any input.

With poker? Closest is Parx casino.
No poker? Yonkers raceway and aqueduct race track.
In NYC? Underground only, good luck finding on craigs list, twitter, meetup.com

Yeah, looking for poker. PLO in particular, which means in all likelihood my best bet will be AC. Looked up Parx, says its a 2 1/2 hour drive. Closest one I've found so far is Mt. Airy? Never heard of it.

Mt Airy is in the poconos in PA, not really sure how far it is from NYC.

I mapquested it from my location (50 miles from NYC), and it's only a 2 hour 14 minutes drive. Not bad.

don't waste your time with Mt Airy.

Try the Sands in Bethlehem, PA. 100x better poker room than Mt. Airy and about the same distance.

If you are north of Westchester County in NY, AC is at LEAST 3 hours. Do you go to SUNY New Paltz? You are probably better off driving to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods, I am not sure there is a direct route though. (Used to go to school 10 miles from both in college FTW).

From New Paltz - Ac, foxwoods or turning stone take about the same time. Best game selection Ac or foxwoods. I think Sands is closer but I haven't been there yet.
