been a long time since ive been on here and im looking through search. Hoping I can get an update on the lower stakes NLHE games in the Los Angeles area as I'll be out there soon.

Ive played for many years in both casinos, home, and raked rooms in TX, vegas, CA, OK, LA blah blah but its been many years since I've played in Los Angeles and only at Hollywood Park when I did. Remember the $100NL being something like 2/3 blinds, up to $400NL with similar structure then $5/10NL being actual non weird structure. Still the same? Games elsewhere better?

Lived in Hermosa Beach many years ago before I got into poker and fine with navigating myself to other rooms if need be. Staying in Santa Monica and visiting friends in the South Bay area so Hollywood Park would be nice though.

Thanks in advance

I live in Orange County, so I play from Commerce/Bike (north) to San Diego (south). I generally play San Diego more often because buy in structures are better.

Here's a spreadsheet that summarizes some of the low stakes games in Southern Cal:

Hope it helps. Let me know if the data needs to be updated.

I notice you have Oceans 11, set to stay away? What is the deal there? I am in Orange County as well btw, South.

The "stay away" notice is for the 1/1 $40 bingo game. Same as the 1/2 $40 bingo game at Commerce.

2/2 $100 at Oceans can have a lot of action. The 2/3 game through is pretty nitty. If I want to play 2/3, I'll head to the Bike.

5/5 ($300-$1000) is supposed to be pretty juicy. Too big for my bankroll ATM. If you want to check it out, it runs quite often on Live at the Bike (http://www.pokernetcast.com) Tuesdays and Fridays at 7:30PM.

How was the action at Elsinore by the way?

Been a couple of years since I've been there. I wasn't too enamored with a 2/3 game that played with $1 chips. I understand they've changed since then, but I have no reason to go back.

Commerce or The Bike. Commerce probably a bit closer to you. Hollywood Park is in the ghetto, feel unsafe just walking to your car there.

understood. planning on valeting at whichever casino i go to (assuming they all have it?) as I can't protect myself in CA like I can in TX.

Looking at the bike more and more.

HP is fine... no issues there. all those places have endearing qualities, they are all slightly different from each other... including HG

I would say that Valeting at where it is available is a very good idea. This is a good idea for doing anything in Los Angeles.

If you want to play 2/3 the only true choice is The Bike.

If you plan on buying in for $300 in 2/3 game then its better to just short stack any 5/5 game in california. The rake is the same and people are actually looser in the 5/5 games. Trying to grind it out against $100 min buying bustos at 2/3 is the worst.
