How do you reply to Will You Show If I fold? How do you reply to Will You Show If I fold?

I have had this asked to me a lot. The thing is there was a time where someone asked me this and I did a 3 street bluff so obviously I didn't want to get called as bluffing was my only option. The person asked me this question and I recalled I thought it was sort of a trick question. I didn't want to say yes because if i said yes, I'm worried they might call me. But in your expereince, is this more true or not?

I had players that asked if i would show previously and i said yes and i think those 2-3 times they did fold and i showed. I think only once I had a bluff and the other few times I had the best hand. Well not the nuts, but sometimes like top pair at the minimum.

The hand i played against someone recently, they basically asked if i would show or not. The person took like 5 minutes before finally someone called the clock on the person and then that person called me and i said good call.

My question is, has anyone had a person say this and then you said yes only to have them call you? Whether or not you were bluffing or not, I'm very curuious about this. And if you are indeed bluffing and someone asks you this, is it better to say yes/no/maybe? I recalled I said i can't show and that was because i felt like against this one opponent... he was a lot different from other opponents... i felt he would call me if i said yes. I felt like saying yes would interpret as weakness. Am i right or wrong here? Do you believe people that its a very high percentage that when someone ask this and if you say yes... they will almost always fold?

I think different people interpret both answers differently. So for this reason. I just don't say anything.

In most cases (90% of time), I say absolutely nothing and just continue to stare down at the table. On occasion, if I am at an extremely social and friendly table, I will smile at villian and good-naturedly ask: "I forget and need you to remind me, does saying yes signal strength or weakness?" But I still don't answer the question regardless of what they say. I just continue to smile.

On rare occasions, if I am dealing with a loudmouth douchebag (and if I really want a call), my immediate response when I hear that question is to look at villian and tell him that if he's got time enough to play games and ask stupid questions, then he's had enough time to make a decision. I add that if he asks me any more questions, I'm going to call clock. This invariably leads to an angry instacall.

"I'll show if you call."

Stay quiet. Any talking whilst you are facing a bet implies strength.

"I might not even show if you call"

In the most reassuring, casual way possible I respond with a smile and say

"I'll show if you call"

EDIT: Nuts, look like Lord beat me to it...

My response is:

"I never show unless I have quads or better."

However,

"I'll show if you call" works too.

dont reply at all. just keep youre poker face on. until he folds.
07-16-2012 , 06:49 PM
Don't respond or move at all and let him make the decision on his own. I have found this works best to avoid any possible angles.
07-16-2012 , 07:31 PM
yea i also go with the don't say anything route.

I've found that by never talking during a hand, eventually people stop asking me those stupid questions. Will you show blah, blah, blah. why so much blah blah blah. can you beat blah blah blah. After I don't respond to the first couple of people, they quit and the game moves along a lot faster.

I fart.

If they are a scummy **** I'll tell them yes and when they fold I make sure the potis pushed my way then announce this isn't pretty and I'm not proud then stand up reach over and bury those two ****ing cards deep into the muck and call them a sucker while smirking.

Depends on the level the player are at, if his a fish and i want him to fold i tell him that i show if he folds. If he is thinking 1 level above fish then if i want a fold i say i wont show if he folds. Etc

I pretty much cross the line when someone gives me reason too. Like the same guy I did this To also called hism5 bet jam pre in a 2-5 game flop 1095 a 2. He is hesitating to show (has grabbed my cards in past to look at em and have asked to see my cards after two outing me in a 2k+ pot). When ace hit turn I made a disgusted look and on river I say what do u have he tables 9,10. I said wow u really 5 balled 9,10 pre on me and flip 2 pair. Nice hand. He asks to see my cards which I had under a lock as to not muck. Yup ace and the ace. Got em. Suck my dick mother****er. Tell me something scum **** do u contemplate suicide on a daily basis or weekly basis. Actually felt bad for a little bit cause I finally silenced the crude **** and all he did was shake his head for the next few hours as he dusted off about 5 k. I just felt bad that other players who don't know I'm the nicest guy n the world had to be hooood against this drooling monster who likes to talk **** about people's dead grandfather

I just say off the wall #@#$ to freak them out.

"I forgot to wipe"
"I'm free balling right now"
"I hate juice"

But seriously saying nothing and being a zombie is the best option 99% of time, because 99% of time I want them to fold lol.

If you fold I'll show you a bluff and if you call I'll show you the nuts...

I always say, "SURE!".

I have zero issues with showing any hand as it has almost no effect on how I play future hands. I'd even be willing to show... EVERY HAND.
