Enjoying Live Play More than Online Enjoying Live Play More than Online

Since it's not long that it will be a year since Black Friday, I was just wondering how many people that turned to grinding live poker actually wound up enjoying it more than online, and if you do, why?

I like live poker, it is just hard to get into the casino to play some days.

To play an hour at home between stuff online is something that is easy to do but with the same amount of time available it's impossible to play live.

^^^This, and it's not even close.

The only reasons I miss online are 1) the variety of games, live its almost exclusively NLHE here in Colorado, with occasional O/8 and 2) the ability to play at any time. It's also not at all stressful playing only one table at a time, whereas online could be pretty frantic at times.

Good points for sure. Looking back over this past year I've just realized that I've grown to enjoy live a lot more than playing online. I actually still had some money on one site and tried to sit down and play yesterday and I just couldn't get into it. I agree the selection of games is limited live at most casinos and luckily I live very close to a casino or I couldn't play as often. I play as much live as I can so it's become like a part time job, like heading to the office and just putting your time in. Plus as you said, the low limit live games are full of so many bad players that it's a pretty laid back atmosphere to boost the bankroll.

Live is horrible. I can't believe people play this 17 hands/hr bull****. The rake is ridiculously high, you have to tip dealers when it should all be electronic by now, you can't turn off chat, people smell really bad, $4/gal. gas to get to the ****hole, I could on and on.

40 hands/hour with Shuffle Master machines; and I walk from my house to my local cardroom.

Unless you were implying that having to sit around with a bunch of antisocial degenerates was contributing to his lack of enjoyment playing live, which could be very true.

i deff can agree with every1 itt, live poker is a much more enjoyable experience then ol since its more of a social game and players in live low stakes cash games literally give you thier $$. nuff said

Online players are, on average, tough to beat. Live players are, on average, terribad.
02-27-2012 , 02:27 AM
not sure if i enjoy live more but it's actually close which i find surprising.

I always have. I always will. The feeling of satisfaction is so much greater when your winning is measured in tangible things, like chips and instant cash. Also, it's more fun to talk to people live. I just wish the nearest (legal) casino wasn't three hours away.

I've always prefered playing live

i enjoy both but live poker is far more profitable long term for me, because its so simple to beat due to high populations of fish at limits that can make it worthwhile to play, and how overall bad most of the regs are at poker.

many days id rather play 5/10 live then grind sngs/low stakes cash online because of how much harder its getting to find value online.

never really enjoyed online poker even when ftp gave me $50 free and stars gave me $10
i dont understand how people can play online for a living and i know saying that on 2p2 is an awful statement

live poker is social and always a good time

I prefer live>online any day. I guess this is b/c I never won online and the casinos are full of fish. I also enjoy the casino atmosphere and everything that comes along with it...free rooms, drinks, good food, and lots of laughs. There is nothing that compares to sitting in Mohegan Sun(CT) poker room when Uconn games are on-people go nuts. I always have a good time live win or lose. Got a kick out of this the other day- watching a TV and all of a sudden porn is on everyone is like WTF? This was at foxwoods lol.

I prefer to play live. It's cool to interact with the other players and get to know the room and dealers there. I'm definately making more money too but I am also playing higher limits ($40-75 buy in live tourneys instead of $2-14 online tourneys). I have also noticed the live players are easier to bet/bluff out of pots - online players seemed to call with just about anything in their hand...which was both good and bad.

I could never beat online so it wasn't fun. Always loved live.

This, and nothing beats the atmosphere of the poker room, like someone else said there is no better place to me than foxwoods poker room at like 9:00 when whatever big game is on. all the nuts and characters you meet just make live poker a million times better. Online has it's moments tho.

Online is horrible. Bunch of multi-tabling nits that won't put any $$ in unless they've got the nuts, you can't get any soul reads though a computer, 3rd party data analysis software is absolutely crucial, hand-histories are available to purchase in bulk, websites allow people that have NEVER played a hand with you to glean knowledge of your leaks, collusion and team-play are rampant and unenforcible (even actively promoted and encouraged on 2+2), the sites themselves are just as likely to screw you out of your money, and nobody REALLY knows how truly random the RNG's are. I could go on...

I really miss the low buyin tourneys that get a few thousand players on PS, also HU Sngs

the casino is fun and all but the game variety and much better tourney structures is what i love about online
