A group of limit holdem players in Tampa Bay have organized and will be playing weekly limit holdem games at Derby Lane in Tampa/ St Pete. We had a good 5-10 limit holdem game this evening for our first kickoff game. The table stayed full the majority of the game. Since it was considered a private game, we were all fed dinner on the house. We are playing every Thursday night at 6:00 PM. This will be a permanent weekly game. As interest picks up each week, we'll get higher limit games going also. Come play next Thursday.

The only time I've seen an LO8 game running above 3/6 was in the few mixed games I've played in and even then the highest I've been able to play was 10/20. I do think that there is demand in this market for a regular 10/20 game , it would just take a lot of work to get it started. HR Tampa would probably be the best room to try to get it running in given that they get 3 tables of 3/6 LO8 running most nights and you can start the list on that machine in the front of the room that reads your players card rather than having to beg the podium to start a list for a game they've never run before.

Never see an o8 game anywhere in the area. Most juciest o high is in derby lane, its only 1/1 but its so juicy and fishy wish I had a roll for it Ive seen some decent size pots over 3k. Anyone play mtts at derby lane? They have a good 10k deep stack mtt with 25 min levels on wed. I think it is.

Lol? FLO8 runs daily at THR at the 3/6 with a full kill. Derby has a 4/8 a few days a week. As far as PLO, Lucky's has 1/2/5 PLO daily, and it's starting to catch on at THR as well, as we've been getting it more and more on weekdays instead of just a weekend evening type of thing. A friend of mine and I actually started that 1/1 PLO at Derby, 'cause we were underrolled for anything else and they have a $200 buy in min for 1/2 PL games. I had to walk around the room and sell the game to get players for it. It is a great game, though. While I don't really think there have been any 3k pots, there were certainly some 1k pots, which is ginormous for 1/1.

Anyone looking to play PLO should help us get a regular game going at THR. There are a lot of fishy players that jump in because of the $100 minimum buy in.

I am starting a campaign to change Florida law to raise the wagering cap for legal home poker games, and can use help from other Florida players. Please see this thread in the Legislation forum.

How about a Google Docs spreadsheet showing all the games going on in Tampa Bay. Here is one I started:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...kp3ejVwMktJakE

Anyone with the link can view and edit.

When entering the Stakes, add a colon and space at the start so it doesn't convert to a number or date.

So its been mentioned that the hard rock is doing high hand for February with hold em, stud and Omaha each eligible separately. But why play separate when you can play all at the same table. We tried to get a mix game going awhile ago, but this seems like a great opportunity to play HOSE. Anyone else game?

Hi Tampa area. I'm going to be in Clearwater beach tomorrow sun 1/15 for a work conference. I would love to check out the local poker scene, either hard rock or one of the other rooms in the area. I really only have Sunday free. Where is the best place to hit and whats the deal with publi transportation? Anyone want to give me a ride for gas money?

$5 max same as HR

yea but its the worst rake in florida for sure.
hard rock rounds down the rake, so $19 is $1 and $29 is $2 and so on.
Most tracks round up on the 5's, $15 is $2, $25 is $3 and so on.
Derby rounds up on the 1's, $11 is $2, $21 is $3 and so on.

So at derby on $21 pot they take $3 rake and $2 jackpot.
At hard rock a $29 pot is $2 rake and $1 jackpot.

This doesn't affect the 1-3nl & up as much, and they offer rake reductions, on short handed tables which HR does not

So last week I went to Florida for a semi-vacation and played on Monday at THR. Overall very friendly game, nice people to chat with, and fairly easy money. In one hand, I flopped quad aces and kept getting bet into by the guy to my right who eventually doubled me up. Thanks!

I also wanted to give a dealer some credit. If you play at all at THR, I'm sure you know him. I think his name was Joshua. He sat down, flung out the cards and called the action to everyone. "Action on seat 6, 6 folds now to seven, $5 to you sir. 7 folds, action to seat 8, 8 raises to $20, now seat 9..." and so on. This guy kept the game moving quickly and accurately and even had time to talk about when he played pro soccer.

Well done.

It's been decent. Will probably be a little different this time as the room did a lot more WPT chip giveaways than the previous two events. Could make for bigger fields and wilder play. There weren't any event sellouts like at Hard Rock, but DL has more tournament tables. No guarantees, but decent number of entries in all the events at the last two. Could be affected by the concurrent WSOP though, especially for the biggest buy-in tournament at the end.

Which events do you think are the best to play in?
