It's actually 250HKD except CoD and Galaxy (I think). Venetian is even worse at higher limits. Why? As Chris said because of "overheads" or you can also simply call it money grab. They do it because they can, people still play, and poker is not important to these casinos anyhow. In a way, it's better at higher limits because it's less in BB, but usually the competition gets better also. Also long waitlists and lack of drinking culture don't help the games either. For many Macau games you have to be pretty damn good to beat the rake long term

25/50 rake $150 Galaxy, $200 Wynn, Wynn Palace & COD, $250 Venetian
50/100 rake $150 Galaxy, $200 Wynn Wynn Palace COD, $500 Venetian
100/200+ 50/100 rake applies

Games pretty much even themselves out, ie lower rake you might see more grinders, higher rake you might have some regs not willing to play shorthanded etc.. so there's no "you should play at this or that casino because rake is low or game softer" etc.. that's the best way to put it. However as far as comfort level, Wynn is very comfortable and quiet, Venetian noisy, Galaxy somewhere in between. Management quality Wynn best again. Wynn and Venetian have more active tables than Galaxy, and COD is only good for cash games when tournaments are on. Wynn has 25/50 up to the nosebleeds and usually spreads 1 PLO table, Venetian up to 100/200 and occasionally higher, Galaxy 25/50 and 50/100 only. Wynn Palace is a new room and foot traffic is unreliable, usually just 1-2 cash tables sometimes none.

I'm pretty sure everyone would agree with this objective analysis.. ;-)

Yes they have a poker room now. No, the amount of tables have not changed.

I read a crazy story. On China mainland, gambling, promoting gambling, and recruiting players is illegal. A bunch of casino workers from Macau were arrested and charged with recruitment of players and imprisoned for one year. Why not charge the bosses of these people who assigned these workers to recruit on the mainland.

This has happened twice in China. One targeting South Korean employees of a South Korean company and more recently targeting Australian/Chinese employees of a Australian company. None of the workers were from Macau. They were based in China.

Didn't see this post anywhere else. Apparently they are using facial recog now at ATMs in Macau casinos to fight "money laundering".

^ yet everyday there are hundreds of scam artists on the casino floor offering you exchange for HKD or swipe card for their cash(high commission of course) and the casino security does nothing about them..

I've been looking around the internet trying to find info on the stakes offered in Macau for my upcoming trip, and it seems like 10/20HKD isn't really offered anymore. The lowest stake that's found is 25/50.

The lowest stakes are 25/50, the 10/20 was some electronic tables or something, but I dont think that's going on any more. Also note it's very tough to beat the rake at small stakes (25/50, 50/100)

Hey!

Does anyone have any info on how to maintain decent fitness while grinding hard in Macao? Where to go to the gym, places to eat healthy, tips and tricks, anything would help

goto the gym in your hotel, or run around the touristy locations (like the ruins) early morning - like 7am.

places to eat healthy -- all depends on your budget.

I will be back in Macau this month for a week. Praying to the poker gods I run well

btw guys, the HKD is directly linked to USD in trade markets so the rates shouldnt really flux too much. for exchange VIG, find a local spot to trade.... keep the HK if you plan in going back to Macau.

Looking for an apt but room preferred to rent on a monthly basis for long term. Will be spending 2 weeks in Macau, 2 weeks in HK. Pm with any options

Just in case you're unaware. HK and Macau are too far away to commute on a daily basis. It will take you 2.5 -5h oneway depending on your exact origin and destination, also it's not that cheap. So If you want to be in HK better look for accom there (start at Asiaexpat, squarefoot or the Uber of Accomodation (not allowed in HK but used regardless). Or just google.
