Can anyone show up for the tue tourney at the legion in greenwood? I'm gonna be in Indy for a couple days for work next week and should have tue night free.

I don't play very often and e tables at the casino don't interest me

Any other options for mon/tue night?

Wow, haven't checked this thread in a while (been busy with work). Yeah, anyone can show up. I haven't been able to go for a few months (again, work) but it's open to the public

Do they run a cash game during/after the tournament or is it just bust and go home?

Probably too late, but they run a cash game as soon as people bust and are interested in starting one.

All good, I ended up working way too late to play anyway. went to KOC last night though, lots of tables running and the 1-3 I played had some good action.

The set-up:
The game is run in a large event hall. The tables are not uniform but almost all are mid-grade poker tables with a cushioned rail and decent felt. Games are 1/3, 2/5, some PLO and a 2-7 triple draw game was going.

Chips are pretty crappy generic clays that are really dirty, cards are Copegs.

Most dealers were courteous and competent but one woman, Frankie maybe (a thinner black woman who wears a baseball cap) was awful. She would insult players frequently and spent a fair amount of time texting during hands (not kidding). In fairness to her she claimed to be sick and that her texting was about a friend in the hospital, but I've never seen anything like it.

The game:
This is a really hard game to rate. Everything about it is very Good news/Bad news. The good news is there are a ton of very bad players*; the bad news is there are also a lot of very good players. Because the game is "underground" (it's a legal game but it's not a place you'd just stumble on without someone telling you), there are a lot of players who are older guys/girls and members of the KoC, and a lot of younger players (21-28ish) that are very solid. This causes the games to play much bigger than they are. The 1/3 game generally opens with $15-25 raises, although some hands are limped by 4-7 people. Post-flop aggression is much more common than you would see at a casino. If there is a cap on the buy-in, I didn't notice it and stacks are generally pretty big.

*This hand is not an example of what every hand is like, but it did happen.
I'm in the CO, 7 handed with about $400
BTN has $100 and straddled for $6
BB has ~$500
MP has ~$1100

SB folds, BB makes it $25, folds to MP who calls, I call, BTN shoves, BB shoves, MP calls, I fold.

BTN-44
BB-AQo
MP-AJo

44 holds up

The look on my face had to be priceless.

The Verdict:
If you live nearby, it's probably worth your time to check out. It runs from 12P-12A and is a winnable game. That said, it's going to leave you much more open to variance than your local home game/American Legion game/whatever, so come prepared.

ATM on site ($3 fee), full bar with a waitress or two roaming around. No tipping allowed although I saw a few players cash out and roll up some bills to slip to dealers on their way out.
Hey RT, I know its been a while since you posted this but I just came across it while looking for KoC north side hours. I play on south side and will be venturing up there to play. Do you know if the 2-7 TD goes off regularly or was this an anomaly? What limits do they play the 2-7 TD also?

Thanks

I've never seen a 2-7 TD game there.

NLH and PLO are pretty much it.

I was just thinking about bumping this thread too. I've been in Indianapolis for a couple of years now but haven't looked into any of the local games. I'm getting tired of driving to Cincinnati though.

Did you play in the north or south KoC? Any safety or cheating concerns?

Northside

No cheating concerns, safety shouldn't be an issue, they have IMPD officer on site at all times.

New to the area (Noblesville to be precise). Do the omaha games mentioned earlier in the thread still spread?

I'm 99% sure they were playing 1/3 PLO at the KoC when I was there at Wednesday, I think the PLO started around 3:30, it's reasonable to assume it runs every monday/wednesday evening there.

Lebanon has a cash game (atrocious rake, 10% up to $10) that had been playing round by round almost every week I was there in May (NL/PLO/PLO8). The rake is bad but the players probably still make it an ok spot (I have on multiple occasions seen half the table "straddle" to $20 or more when the blinds are 1/2).

The .50/1 game I go to at American Legion in Carmel every saturday very rarely will play round by round NL/PLO but only later in the afternoon and if we have the right group of players (game runs 3-10 depending on players). They have no rake but you have to pay $10 donation for every $50 in chips you get (I've done the math and assuming you aren't blowing through bags this is actually better rake than you will usually find even though it seems high up front).

What stakes do you play?

I'm just a casual player, not a regular player anymore between work and the woman. So low stakes. I like hearing the game close by has that going, even if it's only once a week. I'll have to drop by sometime before the end of the month.

So you played a solid 12+ hours and dug yourself half-way out a serious hole. Damn.

It was great playing with you and hopefully I'll be there Friday again. I might actually try and make KoC northside on the 22nd. Hmmm.....

Finally made a 2+2 account!!

KoC Southside had a tournament today. $360 for 23k in chips with 30min levels. Bombed it myself, but was a pretty solid structure although they do take quite a bit off the top. Prize pool was just under 10k.

Word is $40 re-buy tournament will start on the southside next month.

Bump...

Southside KofC still playing 1-3NL regularly Friday - Sunday? What time does the game usually start Friday? I think I read around 3pm, but that was some time ago. Any help is greatly appreciated!

See you on the felt.

So, my wife's grandparents live in Fortville, IN and one night last year I snuck away to work on a web site I was getting paid to make. All 3 of them know I play poker and when I got back, they grinned and asked me if I won at poker. I said I was working on the web site because I was but apparently they think a casino is nearby and I was playing.

I'm about to go back and this time, if there is a poker room, I might like to play.

So, is there a casino or poker room within 2 hours of Fortville, IN?

Please advise!

From Indianapolis Columbus is 2 hrs 30 min or so, Cinn Jack or Lawrenceburg is just at 2 hours, so from Fortville it should be somewhat less. These are the closest live casino games I know of to you.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately those are probably a bit too far. However, I did find something called Indiana Grand that's in Shelbyville. They have e-tables instead of live ones which is ok with me since I've played the majority of my poker online and I have experience with e-tables specifically from a cruise ship. They are 45 minutes away. Any additional information on them?
