Just thought I'd start a new thread for Black Hawk regs to discuss current happenings up the hill.

Please chime in

I'm looking forward to the new Isle room. Most of us most in the older betting limits thread. I think a new thread such as this is in order.

I'm wondering how the games with be affected with the interwebz being closed.

I'd like to start a hose or horse game or even a bigger omaha 8 game 10-20 or even 8-16 with a half kill or something. There has to be interest in this type of thing.

Any new poker room manager or poker room that's struggling would easily see that if you need new clientelle this a slam dunk. I'm an internet player and played live at the gates last night and it was fun for awhile but they let a regular of the room do whatever she wanted. Taking 2 minutes to muck an obvious losing hand etc etc.

Its very tough for someone like me who plays 4-6 tables comfortably to play live but I'd think more options would be the start in making blackhawk a real poker destination.

It looks nice but there hasn't been much action there preventing me from actually sitting down and playing when I've been up.

I don't think there will be much change for us due to the online poker thing but we'll see.

I think most of us would like to see some other games being spread. I don't know, it just seems so hard to get anything going though I know the rooms will accommodate it.

Everyone has been pushing for some more middle limits to be set and $8/16 seems to be most target. Once again, getting it spread is easy but getting the game going has yet to happen.

Thanks for posting guys. I hope we can get more regs in this thread. I don't have much use for 2+2 other then these two threads

What are the tournament structures like up there?

It seems that most of them only have 20 minute blinds... so you play like 4 hands and the blinds go up? Hopefully I am only mistaking on these super turbo tournaments. What kinda blind structure is there usually and when are the bigger tournaments and what kinda prize pool do most of the tournies there bring in?

Most of the structures are pretty horrible. 15-20 min levels for the most part. The bigger tournaments are on Sundays. I can't offer much more than that.

For example this was posted in the other Colorado forum:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...postcount=1047

The Gates is having a tournament series starting the 2nd week in May called The Colorado Poker Championship. There are 14 events, ranging in buy-ins from ~120 to 1100 for the Main Event, which I believe is the 21st and 22nd. I'll have the schedule tomorrow.

I have a serious beef with the organizers, however. Despite the ME having 60-minute levels, and 50k in starting chips, the structure is freaking terrible. The blinds are 100/100, 100/200, 300/600, then *BAM*, 400/800/100, 600/1200/200. That's amazingly awful.

I've been to Ameristar 3 times since Black Friday with a friend that was also playing online. I don't think there'll be a huge change on the weekends, but during the week it has seemed like the average age in the room dropped 5-10 years and quite a few people I've talked to had a decent chunk of money online. If I had to put a number on the effect, I'd say there'll be an average of one more solid player at each 1/2 table and 2-3 extras at 2/5 during the week.

cheers

grinding 1/2 live just makes my stomach ache I'm not sure how the 2/4 100cap and 5/10 100cap play out but I'm sure they are relatively ******ed.
So anyone know what the structures are like on Sundays? I was thinking of heading up there either tomorrow or sunday but we will see

can any one explain the games there to me. Are they 1/2 no limit or 1/2 spread limit with and $8 max? I'm finding both when I search online. Thanks!

Heading through in a couple days and want to see if it's worth stopping.

Also, who's go the lowest rake and 1/2 no limit. I don't care about BBJ. Sorry to be so picky but I'm only going to have one short night there so I want to get right to it.

its 1-2-100 meaning the max bet or the amount that you can raise is 100. They also spread 4/8 lhe

I'm definitely interested in helping to get a regular 8/16 half kill lhe game going.

Pick a room, pick a time, lets get it started.

I personally would recommend the Isle of Capri since they cap rake at $4+$2 and their BBJ is easier to get a portion of back.

I've tried hard at ameristar to get them to open a 10/20lhe, and sometimes they have a 10person interest list but they still resist opening it. And they always tell people it probably wont run.

Right now they are offering $29/nt rooms on sun-thurs for 2 hours play or free room for 6 hours of play.

If anyone is interested in trying to start an 8/16 at isle around saturday at 5pm reply here.

They have awesome high hand jackpots @ fortune valley in central city but I hate 2-10 spread limit. They'll spread any game if threes interest, let's get some Omaha going there... Good comps, great staff..

can you give us some more details about the room. I've been meaning to check it out.

What games normally run?
whats the rake schedule?
comps?

I'd love to play some o8 with ya if we can find enough players to get it going.

Everyone tell your friends, Saturday at 5pm and we'll put down an $8/$16 or a $10/$20 with a half KILL for you. Just need enough players and we'll do it. We don't have $2 chips yet, but we're happy to spread the $8/$16 game if you want it.

Best,
Matt

Spread limit holdem is the primary game with blinds of 1/2 and 2/5 with a max bet of $100.

Here's a good thread about the game if you're not familiar with it <link>

There's also some 3/6, 4/8 LHE and the biggest game is 30/60 (?) not much in the middle.

All rake in town is $5 +$2 (bbj) except the new Isle Room which I think is $4+2

I'm definitely interested in the $8/16 game but I won't be able to play regularly until the end of next month.

Glad to see the Colorado forums picking up
04-26-2011 , 01:33 PM
Does the 30/60 run regularly? By that I mean during the week as well, or simply Friday/Saturday/Sunday?

Also, is it only at Ameristar? What are the comps for "high" limit players?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Think I'm going to check out black hawk before me 1st Vegas trip. Thanks for all the info in this thread.

Only at Ameristar. runs every day 1-2 tables, weekends 3+. Comps are garbage, aside from mail/email offers for free rooms(weekdays only), but i'm not sure that has anything to do with poker. I've played table/slots rarely w/ friends, but nothing comp-worthy.

Come on down to our place on Friday and Saturday night to play $30/$60 and we'll comp you a crab or lobster (or any other entree) dinner from our new Asian restaurant after an hour of play.

Best,
Matt

You don't have to convince me, I'm already sold. Just waiting and hoping the game moves there. I was just giving a scouting report.
