What happened to stud high?

When I started playing in cardrooms around 25 years ago stud high comprised of maybe 85% of the tables. The rest was limit holdem and maybe 1 or 2 tables of O/8. Stud 8 or better was rarely spread by itself(Maybe a higher stakes mixed game went). Slowly limit holdem ate into that margin until the NL boom but even 15 years ago Stud hi was still the game most spread at the eastern casinos. Now I mostly play online and while stud 8 seems to go regularly, stud high never seems to go. Any thoughts as to why?

Stud 8 is played more in mixed games and younger players find it more interesting than stud high. The stud players were old 15 years ago and are now mostly dead. They certainly aren't playing online.
