What is correct play. Assume me cards and opponents door card live. Low card opens ace completed. I have split 9s with a j. Continue to fifth and fold if neither improves? Call to river or just dump 3rd? No play seems real good to me. Maybe calling to fifth and popping a raise?

My question assumes heads up action going to fourth.

Depends if Ace is in steal position, the player you are up against, if you have two suited and live cards, and ante structure

I might fold, I might reraise, I may call and play straightforward, I may call and raise 4th or 5th unimproved.

Too many variables

But I can say just always calling to river is not right.

Don't forget to mention if you have two of the same suit with your pair and whether or not that's live.

This is the beautiful part of stud - the correct answer can be any of the 3 plays depending on other factors.

If Ace catches off suit 6 and I catch offsuit 4, what do you think of raising the nines on fourth against their continuation bet?

Not raising with a board of 94 off against basically anything ever. You have an edge but 5th will give you a chance to either know where you stand better or maybe get in a more deceptive raise if you catch a drawy-looking card. If you raise here then what would you do if you had 89T or a flush draw or something? Raising now gives so much information about both this hand and other hands very cheaply

if he isnt possibly stealing then you will be donating over time for sure. even then you still also have to play better than him.
