I play a $6/$12 mixed game. The table only has $3 chips, so when we do Stud O8, everyone antes $3 and the bring-in is $3.

Therefore, in a six-handed game, there is already $18 in the pot before the bring-in.

With such huge antes, does that mean I should play much more loosely? How would think about starting hands with this type of ante?

ace door should be more valuable, since you can use it to steal more often. that said, people should understand they need to be fighting over antes more often so expect people to come in with wider ranges as well, especially the bring-in. you'll wanna steal more but you also need to pick spots pretty well if people defend wider.

i would expect to see more razzy hands like 238r and also i'd expect to see people playing more pairs overall.

The game is extremely loose so I'm guessing the variance is going to be huge even if I play tight. Also, with the game being loose, I think being tight is still going to be the best play even though the ante is huge.

Loose may be the wrong word. You should first be playing much more aggressively. And you should be trying to learn exactly when and how you can limit the field. Then you'll know how to open up your range. If you can get it heads up, something like 668 *might* become a monster, whereas a razz hand could be totally worthless.
