in ac ..low limit stud is relegated to this game unfortunately....now if given a choice which do you prefer and why..most players are tight older men who tend to gamble and chase if they are on a draw...and i am a tight aggresive player more prone to figuring my outs and pot odds...which can get warped when the pot is 15-20 dollars and you can throw a buck in? any tips on these games

how are they tight and also like to gamble? do you mean they will only play big drawing hands on 3rd, but continue with them too far (or farther than you would)?

i guess that explains it better...once most of them committ to a pot...a reraise or raising with high hanfd wont scare them off ..even if you are showing top pair or two pair

An ante begets more action. This makes the game more fun and more profitable.

If your opponents are very tight on 3rd st, and refuse to adjust to give more action when there's an ante, then you want the ante and you want to steal quite a bit. If you can steal 2-3 rounds of antes before someone plays a pot with you, you can all but guarantee yourself a winning session (especially if they're likely to make mathematical mistakes on later streets).

i played $1-5 stud for years and always played without an ante. used to play 8 hrs or more a day 7 days a week and win $40-50 a day. win way more than that nowdays playing $1-2nl but still i miss the game, might have to go to AC to find a game. how is stud in AC nowdays? where do they still have it? hows the games at ballys and harrahs? thats where i played in AC a few years back.

So if the equivalent of a BB is $5 in that game, you were winning about 1 BB/hr. I can't imagine you got in more than 30 hands/hour at those stakes live, so that puts your winrate at ~3 BB/100, which is very impressive! Any tips for readers who want to play in those games?

stud is great at borgata where the lowest is a 75-150 regular game...which is way over my head bankroll wise...there is a 1-5 spread limitw/.50 ante at harrahs that goes everyday, and there is a 1-5 spread limit at taj w/out ante but a one dollar time charge every 30 min.other than that there is no stud under 30-60 anywhere i know of regularly

no one else thought it was impressive since id only average about $4-5 an hour and told me i should go find a job. anyone can beat it just by playing tight and aggressive. my best advice would be to take up NL holdem instead, its lots better paying.

ive played nl hold em and to me its kinda a boring game..i grew up on stud, we play some stud 8 at borgata, and i enjoy limit hold em but nl to me is a fad..i remember playing years ago and seeing one nl table at the taj and it was like a huge deal just to keep the table going but thats my take on it
