Yes, Wheeling Island occasionally has a 1-5 Spread Stud game with an ante of $1 from every player every hand. Its sporadic though, if I knew specific days of the week I'd go more often as the players are your typical cant lay down till 7th and facing quads.

Just called the poker room---guy on duty says he hasn't seen a stud game there in two years.

That's a very high ante for a 1-5 stud game. You'd have to see almost every hand to 4th street. I've played 1-5 with a .50 ante where you have adjust your 3rd street play accordingly. A lot of people like the 1-5 games at Foxwoods in CT & Bally's in AC because of the looser early streets. I can't imagine playing with a $1 ante though.

1-5 should have either a .25 or .50 cent ante, IMO.

Drat! That explains the lack of information on it. Thanks for calling. Might be wise if they take the mention of it off their webpage. Well I was gonna change my plans anyway. Guess it's holdem at MGM, or convince the non-gamblers in my party to stop by Greektown. Or I'll just OD on Foxwoods for the Summer.

Somehow I missed it, but I wasn't at the Rio 24/7. The year before I got in a 15/30 cash game, which had $2 ante and $5 bi. If enough people get on the list at once, they will spread it.

And a 50/100, and a 10/20 which morphed into a 15/30. If there are players, and they have dealers, they will spread it. I even played HUHU for a while.

PS: The weekly Wynn 50/100 HORSE is moving to the RIO effective this evening.

Folks.... I'm a huge fan of 7-Card Stud high/low, ya know, the E in H.O.R.S.E. I was recently on Lucky Chances' website and noticed that they're licensed to spread Stud-8 @ $2/4 or $4/8. They also have $2/3/5 Pot Limit Omaha-8, but none of these games run. If any of us picture the board @ Lucky's, we know why.... for openers, they don't list the games as even being available. Anyhow, since Garden City closed down their S8 game, it's dead, outside home-games. It's my favorite limit game, and I play it quite a bit online.

I spoke to somebody over there today, and they said they'd gladly spread either game, including either level of S8, if I "walked in w/ 9 guys" and asked them to. I know there are a lot of closet eight-or-better junkies out there in the Bay Area, most of them @ Omaha tables and dealer's choice or mixed home-games. Oaks has its $6/12 Omaha night. I'd like to get enough people interested, where we could possibly get a Stud high/low game running, @ Lucky Chances, even if it's a monthly thing... Weekly would be awesome. My schedule is very flexible, and I could do this any night of the week, night or day, and I'm also happy to take point on "calling the list" and making sure it's worth showing up etc.

So, I'm hoping to rally the Stud-8 players in the area... Just know that Lucky Chances will spread it. Aside from Oaks adding spread and Napa working on starting a PLO game (PLO high, regular "PLO"), nothing original ever happens here. The assume there is no demand for these games, but I know so many people who play mixed games online and/or stud players who would love to sit in a Stud-8 game. I know 4-5 Oaks regulars who would be interested in this Stud-8 game, but I might not run into them all soon, so I'm posting this...

I think it's the Cadillac of limit poker, certainly the most "complicated" and misunderstood limit game. If we did get a game running, even short-handed, I bet some players from the never-ending $2/4 Stud high board @ LC would sit down and put their $ in VERY BAD, thinking that because they can play 7-Stud and have 1/2 a clue about Omaha-8, that they'll be ok @ our table. IE: they'd play {Qd99h}like it was {a23s}, and I'm sure we'd pick up some dead $. I bet, if we start 6-handed, we have a full table in a half hour, IF they'll put it on the board. *which they would, if I gave them some notice that we were coming, on a certain night/day.

I live in Oakland, but I play Lucky's, and I'd love to facilitate getting this game running. I'm a regular @ the $4/8 Stud @ Oaks and just took down a 4-way chop in the 7-Stud tournament they threw last weekend. I am not saying this to brag: Point is, I love all Stud games. I play only Stud, Stud-8, and H.O.R.S.E online, preferring to play big-bet poker (no-limit etc) live, and I hate to see Stud dying out like this. I'm a young guy, 31, but I'm a huge fan of "the other games." I know most of the other S8 players in the Bay Area are probably older fellows. Fine... I'm used to being the "kid" @ a stud table. Let's just work on getting that game running??? I'd prefer $4/8, but I'd gladly sit $2/4 Stud-8... and they'll spread it for us.

Anybody interested? How about the PLO8 game? (I assume it has a $500 cap) It's a big ole' casino, and this whole poker community runs on supply and demand. If we show a demand, they game will start, and S8 players will come out of the word-work. W/ the amount of PLO8 I see being played online (seems to be eclipsing the popularly of PLO high), just know they'd spread that game too. We just have to ask, take the initiative, etc.

Thanks! GL. Play good.

FYI- This past Saturday, Borgata in AC spread a brand new 4/8 stud 8 game ($1 ante & BI). AFAIK, this is a first of it's kind in AC. The poker room manager Stan (who posts in the Borgata thread in B&M), has taken an interest in getting this game off the ground.

I can't wait to give this game a shot, the limit/structure is great, and it's nice to see a straight stud 8 game in AC again. I'll probably be there either this Saturday or the next. Hopefully this can become a regular game.

LOL - did he mean an extra guy or is this as funny as I think?

I played 1-5 Spread limit at Foxwoods yesterday. .50 ante. There were at least 2 tables running because me and my 1-3 Limit at Rockingham Park in New Hampshire. an that game had a 1$ ante which is just ludicrous. A few of us convinced them to a compromise. I blie e we just had a rotating button that anted up. Most of the table didnt even realize that the ante was way too large for such a small lmit game haha

The 4/8 stud-hi game at Commerce is $1 ante, $1 bring-in and I'm guessing the rake is prob like $4+$1. Is this game beatable?

It is absolutely beatable if the players are bad enough, which I'm guessing they are.

They drop all that money right away, don't they?

I thought the law in California was that the drop couldn't be made dependent on the size of the pot. They have a discounted drop for blind steals in flop games, but I thought they took the full drop once there was any real action. Has that changed?

When did you play this game? I live about 5 mins from here and have played in it twice. Ive been going here now for about 4 years (1-3 times a week) and Ive seen it run about 3 times total, each was because a group of 4 older ladies requested it. Regardless its 100% +EV to get in it OBV.

What are the good Stud hi games here in the Bay? I haven't been getting out enough. I think that 10/20 is probably my upper limit.

thanks,

Anyone have any experience with Stud Hi at Mohegan Sun? Haven't played B&M stud in about 3 years and the last time I did it was at Foxwoods. Also, has anyone played in any of the stud tourneys at MS? Just wondering how they are (thinking about playing in the one at the end of July).

I'm probably going to play the July 23 one - no idea what to expect but it will bug me all summer if I don't enter. Never played at Mohegan but I'm going down July 6th for the day to see what the regulars are like.
