How to do Kill Pot in Stud games? How to do Kill Pot in Stud games?

I play in a 10/20 fixed limit mixed game, with $2 antes and $3 bring in for the stud variants.

If you wanted to implement a half-kill to 15/30, how would the betting work?

I assume antes and bring-in remain at $2 and $3 (unless the Killer gets the bring-in), but how much is the Kill post? Would it be like a $5 kill with option to call or complete to $15, or would it be a $15 kill with option to call or raise to $30? The latter seems a bit dramatic in immediately stepping up the bets to a complete, but a $5 kill seems to let the Killer off easier than it would in a flop game where they'd post $15 for sure.

When there is a kill in a stud/8 game at the Bellagio (usually during an O.E. game), this is how it works:

In a 20-40 stud/8 game, a killer would post a $20 kill. (obviously, everyone posts their antes) The kill would also function as the bring-in. So, first action would be to the left of the kill. The kill would act last on 3rd street.

Talking Stick's 8-16 0/E has a half-kill and in the stud rounds posts $12 (and ante) and action starts to the killer's left leaving an option to raise if no one else has.

Back in the day there was a 10-20 stud/8 game with a half-kill to 15-30 at the late, lamented Outpost in San Ramon, California. The way I recall it worked was similar to a kill in Omaha/8: Whoever scooped a pot (above a minimum size, so you wouldn't get stuck with the kill for stealing the antes) would post a blind bet. There was the usual bring-in by the lowest third-street upcard, and the action would go in table order for the regular amount of the bring-in. No one could complete before the killer, though, who had the option of checking their $15 blind completion or raising it to $30. After the killer acted, the action continued as normal. As you could imagine, there was a fair amount of gamesmanship in the positions between the bring-in and the kill, and often people would call the bring-in with the intent of raising after the killer had completed.

Those kill pots generated a lot of action. I miss the. I miss that game. I miss the Outpost.

Are you sure about this? There is a kill, but the betting limits stay the same?

At the 20/40 OE game at Bicycle, the winner would only post $20, but they called it an "action button", not a kill, and the limits stayed the same. Also the low card brought it in as usual, and players between the low card and the action button could only limp, not raise.

Personally I would recommend just not doing a kill in a stud game. As you said, even a half kill drastically increases the stakes of the game. In a normal 20/40 hand with a typical one raise (a complete), it costs $20 to see 4th street. If there is a half kill with a single raise, it now costs $60, or 3 times as much. If no one wants to raise, it actually costs 6 times as much as usual.

I got the $ amount wrong.

A $30 kill would be posted because it was a half-kill.

Parx 6/12 kicks to 10/20, keeps antes the same, a$1 in both games. The killer has a force "force" bet of $3 blind. If they are actually the bring in, that's all that goes in. If someone else is the bring in then the killer can check or raise.

With a full bet "kill" in stud just doesn't work imo. In 08 or lhe you can play almost all the kill hands for 1 or 2 raises. In stud you can't (at least you shouldn't) It imo handcuffs better players.

Neither way is really great.
