@ razz1 : too much content for LC.

My PT database shows Seat 2 as a solid player who plays 3rd street really passively. At the risk of adding player-dependent reads into it, I think that 3rd is a limp against this player, because he very often limps better hands than yours. I've seen him limp-call three card 6s before.

Once you get to 5th in this hand, you're showdown bound, I think. Bet a board-lock on 6th if you have it (like you did), otherwise just check-call the hand down. Perfectly played on the big bet streets.

People play "outrageous" when the money doesn't mean much to them.

You are much more likely to find that attitude at micro stakes, for obvious reasons.

For your average working stiff in the USA (just to pick one socioeconomic area), losing a 20 BB buyin at .25/.50 limit poker doesn't "hurt" much -- it costs him a whole lot less than taking a girl out for dinner and a movie. He may think it's worth it on entertainment value alone, and who knows, he might actually win some money.

Why do our state governments sell so many lottery tickets? It's because they've priced them so low that people are willing to buy them as an impulse buy. From an EV standpoint, buying a lottery ticket is "outrageous", but it offers the chance to trade something which means basically nothing to you (an extra dollar with your beer purchase which you'll never ever miss) for something life changing (in the event that you hit that 1 in 19 million longshot).

actually, i kinda got REAMED in this game by a couple of the other guys.
3-7 straight getting snapped, the usual amateur donking.
Hadta jump into Badugi and make a A234 to get it back.

Tom didn't do too bad... i watched some guy chase his wheelie.

Actually, it was multiple beers, supper, and the best seat I've ever had at a baseball game. It was also a rare opportunity to see PokerBob behave like a human being.

i agree with what you say there jb, and it's just something you have to get used to at the lower limits.

i've got a lot of admiration for negreeanu and ferguson for their bankroll challenges. a lot of people would pay $10 just for the chance to be able to say they stacked jesus/kidpoker....

just thought i'd pick out this quote because there was a bit of rumour floating around Sydney that the New South Wales State Government was going to ban all paid poker except at Star City Casino. Their reasoning was they wanted all gambling to be in a controlled, regulated environment. the real reason?? they believe people playing poker took people away from poker machines (you guys call them slot machines in America)... basically they felt people were taking their poker machine money and putting it towards poker.

What's probably not realised in America is that New South Wales and Las Vegas have the highest population of poker machines anywhere in the world. A report was published las year stating that both share about 20-25% of the worlds poker machine population. As you guys would know the take on these things is absolutely outrageous - the average poker machine is NSW makes AUD$90,000 per year. A mate of mine went to Las Vegas two years ago and he he only saw slot machines are in casino's only yeah?? In NSW they are everywhere - pubs, clubs, sporting clubs, casino's... basically anywhere you can drink, you can play a poker machine. Maybe it's the same in LV i'm not sure, maybe he just didn't see them elsewhere....

but either way the point is that these government dickheads are just looking for ways to line their coffers. the NSW state government is virtually broke and they've as much as publicly admitted it. If it wasn't for poker machine's (which have completely ruined some people's lives) they would be beyond broke. ****ing scum.

In the words of the great men of Pink Floyd, mother can i trust the government??

pretty awesome one-two combo succession of events happened to me the last 2 days.

so a random person i have never seen before nor played with before sits down with me last night, claims he used to play razz all the time, tells me im a terrible player, and then refuses to play me.

then today a fish completely criticizes a way i super standardly played a hand in our headsup game, then refuses my request to add tables, and proceeds to sit out 3 hands later.

Really? All I did was call, call, call, call, call, call, and then make a gutsy but reasonable river bet... But if you say so, I'll try it...

i just played an ftops sat, got about 10 3 card 7s or better in the first 25 hands, and won 3 of them, somehow managed to survive. Then i ran into a wheel in 5 to leave me with like 300 chips, i hit a triple runner to get a new life, then i ran a 765 into a 764 to leave me with 200 again on the bubble, i end up in a 3 way pot with 4 to an 8 vs 2 guys drawing way behind and i hit pair pair paint to bubble
