A-A-2-3 single suited loses on the river in Omaha/8. And yeah, I know the river bet wasn't a shining moment for me.

jbrennen, I hope you got some of wxxxxxr08's money at 5/10 last night. The guy limped like 95% of hands and never completed once!

Wow, that guy got dealt a 3-card 8 95% of the time?! What a card rack

In other 5/10 news, I played some myself last night and came across a villain I'd never seen before. In one pot vs. another player he capped 4th st with (23)K2. I played two big pots with him, and both times he binked a wheel. This is still a brag post however, since in the first one I raised him on the river with a smooth 7 and he flat called me.

Probably he thought you also had a wheel, but with a better kicker...

Betting the river is nowhere NEAR as bad as paying it off.

Yeah, but if I hadn't paid it off, I never would have known that I was a 90:10 favorite on the turn and that he had just 3 outs (a gutshot straight draw) to scoop.

I'm thinking of joining a bar league around here to learn NLHE. I worry about not being able to turn my chat off.

Mostly what's wrong with people has to do with fear.
02-05-2009 , 01:53 AM
I gotta say, the poker played in bar leagues will drive you totally insane. It's like 10 hands per hour, with the biggest idiots I've ever seen. I did it twice, I don't know what happened between the 1st and 2nd time that made me dumb enough to do it a 2nd time.

I'd recommend finding something like a .25/.5 home game or something near you. Bad enough play and small enough stakes, but generally it resembles actual poker.

Have you heard of this? I'd be interested in your, or anyone else's comments.

Also, I do believe we have to deal. I don't know how to deal. I mean, I know how to shuffle a deck and deal a card game, but not a poker game. All that burning cards and whatever.
02-05-2009 , 02:20 AM
I've played league games here, similar I assume.

There is hope for everyone.

I just got back from Commerce where I played in the best 200/400 Stud Hi game of all time. Put it this way, if ceegee walked into the room, I would grab him, hand him 10k and say, gogogogogogogogo, and it wouldnt have been close. It was better than any 5/10 online game for sure.
