3rd is pretty aggressive but I think your raise is OK. His bet on 3rd is fairly automatic and you could easily have a much better hand than him. The problem here, though, is that you're almost committed to showdown, you just put in almost 1/2 your stack on 3rd. With bigger stacks I think 3rd is well played. With stacks this small I have to admit that I am pretty lost - I regularly lose once it's heads up.

The size of the pot dictates the call on 4th.

5th st is absolutely fine, you're a 2:1 favorite against him even if he has 2 wheel cards.

I'd recommend checking out your equity on all streets, against his actual hand, and various ranges. It might be educational - I was surprised to find that you were that far ahead on 5th against perfect down cards.

Good Point. I didn't even realize I put in almost 1/2 of my stack on 3rd. I played this one like a cash game HU.

with 7 BB total between you, what you do makes absolutely no difference once you get past third and not getting it in on third is criminal.

Yeah. Heads up cash I think the raise is good. It might not even be bad here... it's just that A4T (with the T up) is not necessarily a hand I want to get all in with. You could have folded 4th if it came down bad, so you're not terminally committed, but if you catch well on 4th I think it's all going in no matter what.

I run A4T8 against (8-)(8-)96. 46.13% vs 53.86%...so it was close and definitely a call given the pot size. Thanks for the analysis, Rusty.

These SnGs are almost always decided at HU by one hand. If the smaller stack prevails, the former big stack is usually so crippled you can hardly lose. But the antes are still relatively small - enough so that you can wait for a really good hand.

The structure is seriously whack at this point, but are you saying hero has no choice but to essentially push on 3rd just after the completion? Once it's 3 bet I agree the die is cast, but it certainly reasonable to flat call 3rd and still be able to fold 4th if the cards break horribly. Hero is certainly ahead of villain's range with random hole cards, but just because hero wants to play for stacks doesn't mean villain has to go along with it. He can flat call or even fold to the raise on 3rd with his worst hands and only play for stacks when he's ahead.
