aufuu...have you ever given advice to someone in a 3way pot and say "I would raise villain 1's bet(even though a little behind) b/c you know villain 2 will dump his money into the pot b/c he has a "zomg 7 draw!"?

Well in this hand, you are villain 2.

Yeah, but that alone doesn't make it a must-fold. It all comes down to pot size and pot odds. It can be correct to dump money into the pot when you're in third place because you're priced in to call even if it's capped.

Or in other words, just because the Villains gain by jamming, that doesn't mean that Hero loses by calling.

(In this hand, Hero likely does lose by calling, but not because he's getting jammed -- it's because he's not getting the odds to call a capped street.)

Sorry if this has been asked already but for someone new to 7C hi/lo would it be better to read Sklansky's section in SS1 or Ray Zee's book first?

Ray Zee's Hi/Low Split, and Tood Brunson's section in SS2 give good fundamentals for a Stud8 beginner.

Is Sklansky's section more advanced or just not that good at all?
03-24-2010 , 08:43 PM
Sklansky's work in SS1 is somewhat irrelevant. The game he analyses in the book has no qualifier for low. In other words, you're opponent can take low with broadway vs your full house if no one makes low. This drastically changes our approach to the game. It makes hands like KKx total garbage.

Oh I see. Thanks!
